Whatever you do, @tends2dogs, be sure to do your research and figure out what you're getting through diet and/or other supplements, like a multivitamin, to make sure you aren't overdosing.  Too much of a good thing could deplete something else or cause unintended bad side effects.

Thank you, @JeanLouiseFinch .  I am trying to find something similar to what we have taken for years from Vitacost.  I don't know why they discontinue products.

From Cleveland Clinic

Improve your cognitive function

  • In addition to being in your eye tissues, lutein can be found in your brain tissues — and is considered the predominant carotenoid in your brain. A study shows that taking a lutein supplement may help improve your cognitive function, such as learning, thinking, reasoning and remembering.

My Retina Specialist recommended Pressurevision AREDS for my glaucoma and my husband's macular degeneration and we are both doing well.

Please do double check with your own Specialist. Wishing you good eye health! ❤️

I also take Areds2 for my eyes.

My last eye appt, the doctor said "Hmm, I haven't seen this before".  Oh ... okay.  He said I had the beginning of macular degeneration.  I quietly freaked to myself.  He suggested I take Areds2 - drove straight to CVS.  Been taking since.

@tends2dogs I do not take eye vitamins, but I do belong to ConsumerLab, which is a supplement third-party testing site.  They test for efficacy and quality.  Here is what their recommendations are and why.  I'm sorry the font is so small, but in order to get all the info for you, I had to zoom out to get the screenshot.

I was diagnosed with macular degeneration a few months ago. My eye surgeon suggested I take Pressurevision AREDS. I get them from Costco.

I don't use one.  I think if there were any benefit to them my eye specialists would have recommended one.  I see a retina specialist and one for glaucoma.
