I've got a virtual visit with my MD next week.  Since the weather is so unbearable and it's just to discuss my blood tests, I opted for "virtual".

(I don't want to drive in extreme heat if I don't have to.)

Anyone use this?  Obviously, it can't work for everything.  The doc can't check your ears, heart and whatnot.

They said I'll get a link a half hour before my 1pm appointment and click on it .... and what happens next?  Will I see this person on my phone or will it be like a regular phone call?

I've never did a video anything on my phone, so right now I'm not clear what happens next.

Any experienced virtual visitors here?

Re: VIRTUAL DOCTOR VISITS?

[ Edited ]

I had one with my PCP during Pandemic, did it on Zoom from my desktop computer. I had to take my bp using my home monitor in front of her, and then we chatted, and she renewed my RX, that was it.

Sounds like if all you will be doing is reviewing your test, then it should be very simple.

You get a link and when you click on it,  you'll see the doctor and he or she will see you.  I have had virtual visits with a couple of doctors and my weekly Wellness group meeting is virtual.   Make sure the room you are in has plenty of light and that your phone is placed so that your face is visible.

I did this many times during the pandemic, you will get the link that will lead  you to a  viisual chat room of sorts with your doctor, it will be similar to face time if you have ever done that

I have done it a lot.  My doc's office calls ahead of time and goes over the basics ahead of time, asks if I took my bp, etc., and then makes sure I am queued and ready to go and then I wait for the doc.

My husband's doctor calls ahead of time, same set of things, and then he would go into a "virtual waiting room".

With both once you are checked in and ready to go you sit and wait for the doc much like if you were in a waiting room.  I have never been as fortunate  to see the doc as soon as I click the link.  But then the doc will just pop onto the screen.

Be sure you do the check that your camera and speakers and mic are all working ahead of time.   With my doc's office there are buttons to to check for all of that.

We use it. Easier than driving to the clinic.

We use it whenever we can. Saves a trip to the Drs office.

They work well when you don't need to be physically present.

I've done it multiple times. The last time I did it was in January when I had covid. I've never had a problem with it and am pleased they offer it. My nurse calls first and asks me some questions and then they send me a link through e-mai that you click on and talk to the doctor. You can see them on camera and they can see you.

I too have done it a number of times.

With mine they text me a link that I click on when the doctor is ready for me and once I do I see her and she sees me. You can use your phone or your computer.

My doctor is located about 40 minutes away so it's a wonderful time saver. Good luck!
