@dex wrote:@sfnative well you say that you have more to lose than 10 pounds...that is going to go girl faster than you know it because we are all going to work this off together.I think that if we can all be really honest with ourselves and each other this group could be successful.I have another tip that isn’t too popular but I will share it anyhow and hope everyone realizes that it is just another tool....You can trick yourself about how you care for your body but in the end your body always tells the truth.I have had to learn this the hard way.We all want to be healthy and happy so taking good care of ourselves should be a priority.Would everyone mind if we picked one item a week we all agree to stop eating?I think it could be a fun challenge to find ways to make healthier meals.
Believe me when I say that I know exatly what I'm in for and know exactly what my body is all about - inside and out. I've never fallen for the "trick yourself" yadayada, which is simply playing mind games and lying to yourself. Having been around the block of life too many times, I'm content with my mentality and know what I need to do to succeed. I'm not saying that makes it any easier, though!!!
I had a horrible time with the drug Depakote that my neuro placed me on, because it turned on the "eating" center of my brain, as it did one of the daughters of dear family friends. The resultant weight gain we both incurred was worse for her, as last year she was just 16 and gained 34 lbs to my 38 lbs. (I think I got her lbs correct.) Anyway, quitting smoking was MUCH easier for me than fighting the Depakote induced urge to eat. It was simply dreadful. My neuro insisted that I stay on the drug 8-10 months to determine its success rate. At 8 months, I made an appoint, walked into his exam room and told him to get me off the freaking drug that day and get me on something else, before I balloned into... It was just horrible.
So, here I am anxious for the battle to begin, for a battle it will be. Thank goodness I have cooking skills and am going with The Mayo Clinic Diet!

@lolakimono Workout warrior woman! It is encouraging to read your post. I love the pink corkcicle bottle....I already have an assortment of hydro-flasks in assorted colors and sizes that are very similar. On long days, I can make smoothies in the flasks and put an assortment of tons of veggies in a lunch box with a bit of hummus/salsa and I'm good to go. Great that you are having breakfast after workout....better results for weight loss to work out on an empty stomach. I usually intermittent fast till lunch so I'm in the same boat. Too bad you lost your partner.....maybe you will join him in crossfit later on. Love your post....girrrrul you are on fire!

@sfnative Yes, your point is well taken. Each of us is an individual dealing with specific needs/aliments/choice of lifestyles either by necessity or choice. I am hoping that you are able to remedy the med issue. .
I'm looking forward to respecting each other's choice of diet/lifestyle/exercise. I know what works for me and I respect another member's choices for themselves. I believe in plant based eating, but I know there are others that will disagree. That is OK...hopefully we are all here supporting and encouraging each of us to become the best we can while practicing kindness and consideration for each others' choices. Best wishes for a remedy to your challenging medical situation. You know your body better than anyone on the board, and I trust we will find a lot of support on this board (you got mine!).

@sfnative@You will make it though because you are determined.Do you still have to take that medication or did the doc prescribe something else.I think if you can quit smoking you have very strong self control.I was wondering if you have heard of volumetric.I think it is a diet where the foods are really low calorie so that you can eat more which helps people that need the fullness feeling.
