For those who recall my previous post about having surgery to remove the knee hardware due to a staff infection I just wanted to provide a update. I had the surgery 6/26, had been on home IV antibiotics via a picc line. after being on the antibiotics for a month the antibiotics caused problems with my kidneys so I spent 6 days in the hospital (8/4 thru 8/9) on IV's to clear my kidneys. I have now been released from the infectious disease specialist, saw the Ortho 8/18, off the knee brace and TED stockings, still on the walker, x rays good, will see the Ortho in 1 month to evaluate how it's going and if I am getting closer to having the knee replacement redone. As I said before, all of this started 7 months after the initial right knee replacement, big surprise ! I am going to get through this, the Lord is with me. Please keep me in your prayers

My neighbor had to have her initial knee replacement replaced about a year after the first due to an infection. She is in good shape now with the second replacement. You’ve been through the wringer but you have a great attitude which will serve you well. Keep the faith!

Hoping you keep up the good healing process and sending up a prayer for you. My surgery was absolutely uneventful, but a friend had hers done June 28. She has really been in bad pain. Yesterday she told me the knee was swollen and red. Calling the doctor. Good thoughts for both of you.

@Goodie2shoes I am definitely keeping you in my prayers. Knee replacement, as well as most surgeries, scare me. Please keep us updated on your progress, and I hope that everything goes well and as planned.

Nice of you to update all of us that have followed you with this long ordeal.Really sorry to see you having to go through this, especially for a surgery that is pretty common these days.
I know my friend, the Ortho that does only hips and knees, says while it is very rare for him, it does happen. He told my wife pre-surgery that is always his biggest concern with any type of major surgery.
You are one strong lady and it sounds like the end is much closer. I love and respect your optimism, as I know it helps you get through this. My thoughts are with you.

@Goodie2shoes My prayers are with you. My goodness you have been through so much....TOO MUCH....and another major surgery looming with replacing the knee. THEN THE ISSUES WITH YOUR KIDNEYS....🙁 Are you staying with the same surgeon who put in the knee replacement that got infected? Do you feel comfortable with that decision if you have decided on using him again?
