This is so personal I'm surprised you posted it on the web.
This is very serious, and can trouble an entire family, but I would keep it in the family and not share it or take advice from ANYONE here, even if they have had it. Talk only with you doctor or specialist, and please be careful what you share.

Sounds like your doc wants to rule out other causes. I'm sure you are in good hands!

OkeyDokey, Yes, I know my doctor is very thorough and I'll be fine. He's older and I know he will retire in the next few years and don't know where I'll find such an excellent compassionate doctor.

You can carry the spores in your body for a long time before they colonize and become an active infection; all of us probably carry c-diff spores in our body and don't know it, because the spores have not colonized into an active infection. Again, you DO NOT get rid of c-diff. You treat an active infection with the hopes of killing off the active spores in the intestines at that time. Once you test negative, the spores left in your body are dormant, but will colonize again at some point to form an active infection again. The biggest trigger of c-diff spores is an antibiotic that disturbs the natural flora of the intestine which then sends the spores into growing and colonizing into an active infection.
Excellent information Red Top!!

I am so sorry you are going through this Kismet. I had never heard of cdiff until today. I happened to watch The Doctors and they did a segement on cdiff. They mentioned you need to reintroduce healthy bacteria into your system and mentioned one way to do that was via a fecal transplant that I see has been mentioned.
But the segment today was focused on taking ""poop"" pills. They stated it was 90% effective and less invasive than a transplant.
I wish you well and a speedy recovery.

Sorry I sent the wrong link, but as you can see this procedure is also being used to cure MS.
