Condolences. However, please don't let this start people freaking out. Congress starting a billion $$$$$ "comittee" to study cafeiine. Things happen. You cannot do anything anymore with a pc police getting involved. When your number is up, you can't argue. Some people live young, some live to 104. However, prayers to the family regardless.

@Mz iMac I get that much caffeine each day ...two coffees and a double expressi within that time frame.I think the person must have had a heart problem or taken some medication that didn't work with caffeine.Maybe allergy meds.

According to the article, the child was "healthy."

Sad, this has happened before. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child.
I think I'm immune to caffeine between the coffee and diet cola. I once drank a 5 hr. Energy once and took a nap.
That frat death at Penn State just keeps getting worse, some of the investigation is being told.

I honestly don't find it unbelievable at all - it's a disaster waiting to happen.
Do stupid things/make bad decisions, pay the price.
Could/should there be regulations so that energy drinks and high caffeine-high sugar drinks are not sold to those under 18? Quite likely. Would that solve the problem? Probably not. Kids get alcohol and drugs, both of which are illegal for them. They just need a supplier. And if a supplier is charged with manslaughter in a death - the person is still dead; nothing changes that.

Some people are just more sensitive to caffeine than others.
One can be perfectly healthy, no heart problems, not taking any medications prescription or otc, or illegal drugs, and still od on caffeine.
Caffeine is considered to be a drug.

Yea? and you can walk across the street and get hit by a car too. I swear this forum is turning into the obits. Don't have to look at a paper anymore.

This is so tragic but I highly doubt it was the total cause of death. I ask myself ......"could he have been diabectic and didn't know it" and other questions. I have one grandson that watches his sugar and soda intake....the other one guzzles Mountain Dew and I am hoping he will curtail that soon as it does concern me. All you can do is try to tell them.....teenagers are going to do what they want when mom and dad aren't around. There is no way to avoid it except to teach them about nutrition and hope one day they remember.
