had a filling replaced 3 weeks ago ,  actually it was suppose to be quick as it was a very small filling .  This a new dentist where Ive been going ,  she was very nice ,  but I have to wonder if she knows what she's doing.   My bite is so off everytime I eat the tooth next to it hurts and so does my jaw.  Teeth on the other side of my mouth also hurt off and on.   It's effecting my whole mouth .    She has attempted to fix it twice with that bite paper they use to no avail .   Her assistant who I guess thinks of herself as more then an assistant told her she felt the tooth above it needed to be filled down some as it was the problem.  And she did it !   I had the feeling that was not the issue ,  but I didn't say anything ,   I mean how can you as one figures the dentist should know.

i would like to continue going to this practice  for my cleanings,  it's close and convenient they other practice is 45 minutes away.   Plus I like the hygienist.  but feel I should have  a second opinion and go to a dentist thst did work at this practice he opened his own practice in January .   He had filled a tooth for me once and did a great job ,  no issues whatsoever.  Bite perfect afterwards.  Also removed a wisdom tooth that was totally painless and quick ,  he's very good and caring.

dilemma is the dental hygienist that works for the dentist I'm having  an issue with works at the other new practice once a week and so does the office manager . Why I don't know.    It will be known I went there .   I realize I have a right to go wherever I like I just feel conflicted .   I dont feel I should give her another chance to make things worse even though I guess patients are expected to go to who did the work .

anyone have an issue with there dentist in this way ?   And what was your outcome .

@Kitty Galore

I think you need to get a 2nd opinion and continue to go to the dentist that you believe gives you the best care.

You are your best advocate.

@Kitty Galore   If the bite is off you need another opinion.  It will cause you ,more problems down the road.  When you say new Dentist do you mean young as in just out of school or just a new one in the area?

BTDT

Mine started last fall. I had a crown procedure done.  Everything looked good but I couldn't tell 100% since I was numbed up.  I ended back in the chair for a bite adjustment twice.  Then new discomfort began and I felt movement but I didn't want to overreact.  I went in for another look and X-ray showed the tooth under the crown was cracked.  I had it extracted and a bone graft done, and I'm in the implant process.

@JeanLouiseFinch   I sure hope there isn't a crack in that tooth next to it as it hurts after eating and never did before .  Could be from working on filling that tooth.

good luck with your implant !

After I got implant crowns put in, my bite was not right. So I went back and the dentist did a digital scan of my entire mouth to determine where the imbalanced teeth were located. After the the dentist looked at the scan, the dentist filed some teeth down to correct the bite. I still have some slight bite issues but having that scan really helped figure out which teeth needed to be filed and where on each tooth to file down. It's complicated!

@SilleeMee   There sure sounds like the perfect way to locate the problem and what's needed to be done correctly .    I am hoping when I go for a second opinion they have this scan .   It seems to be a state of the art office from looking at there website.
