I'm at that age where i need a helmet and padded suit.  I fell three times this past week due to neuropathy causing balance issues.  Yesterday it was extremely windy out, like Wizard of Oz windy.  I went out the front door and down two stairs and husband didn't close the door to the duplex and the wind took it and he yelled "DOOR."  I turned on a dime and started up to catch it so it wouldn't break fell backwards and landed on the cement with the brunt of my body weight on the bottom of the palm of my hand and the butt cheek of the same side.  Not feeling 100% today.  Kind of nauseaus and just off.

So sorry to read this.  I'm at an age where falls could be very bad if not fatal.  Hope you are okay tomorrow

Also at that age, but consider yourself very lucky, could have been a lot worse for sure. Rest up.

You need to make sure you don't have a concussion.  Even if you didn't hit your head directly.   The nausea and just off is concerning.

Maybe check if your wrist is broken since you landed on your hand.  I fell forward last year and broke right wrist and fell backward this year and broke left wrist.

@rms1954, I'm so sorry to hear this.  I have a friend that also has neuropathy and he has fallen quite a few times.  He's currently using a cane and that's helping him.   Hope you're better tomorrow.  Keep us posted.

@rms1954 I am so sorry you fell!  I agree maybe you need to check that out.  I've used a couple of those little emergency clinics affiliated with hospitals and been pleased with their docs.  Maybe whiz by one and get a quick look at least?????  Worried about 'ya!

Re: Took a Fall

[ Edited ]

So sorry for your issues with neuropathy ! I hope your recovery is swift and you are feeling better very soon.

I understand your problem because I have diabetic neuropathy, not having any issues with falling yet but I'm starting to feel a little unbalanced from time to time. The tingling in my feet is constant and I haven't found any medication so far that relieves the symptoms. Take care and keep us updated on your recovery.   I might have to get me a helmet and padded suit as well !!Woman LOL

Well, I think you're a pretty tough bird @rms1954 .  That was quite a fall, and backwards at that.  And yet you apparently didn't break anything.  Also, it's not as if you were just walking along and fell because you're a doddering old lady.  That was definitely extenuating circumstances and many of us might have lost our balance and fell.

I'm thinking that your poor hubby must be feeling bad that he called out and maybe contributed to your fall.  Kind of the way we were told not to yell if we saw our kids doing some dangerous stunt because that might actually cause them to fall.
