What do you average a day? I average about 12000 steps... some days do 15000, on the less days maybe 9000. I hear of people who do 25,000 and up! I am always so impressed with this! I walk an hour everyday... but, being retired now and in the home more I probably sit a bit more than when I was working retail 8 hours a day.
In the Summer and Fall I get out into the yard more , but, in the winter it is really hard to meet my 10000 step goal.

I am good about getting between 10K and 12K, but on vacation did 22,500 steps. Did not know that there was a badge for 20K steps in one day. With summer, I expect to be walking more.

I get 8-9000 but that doesn't include formal exercise classes. I take it off for that and use my Polar HRM.

I don't know where you live, but in most areas there's a mall nearby. In winter, my dad & stepmother used to dress in their warm up suits & sneakers and drive over to the local mall first thing in the morning, even before the stores opened. They often had plenty of mall walker company! lol
Mall walking is the best solution for the winter & bad weather days ..... malls are warm, have restrooms & security guards, and benches if you want to sit occasionally, especially if you're walking several laps in order to increase your steps!

I work full time & have a life outside my job. I find a daily step goal is not useful with my lifestyle.
I use my Fitbit to remind me to be more active throughout the day. It makes a big difference some days, other days not a lot. It depends on my schedule for the day. On a horribly slow day at work I have been known to get in a few miles and over 20 floors - spread out over 8 hours. On a horribly busy work day there are no extra steps at all.
I wish Fitbit allowed us to set daily step goals. That would work better for me.
I have an active lifestyle and my Fitbit motivates me to move more. That is what I expect it to do. Nothing more.

8,000-9,000 a day for me, occasionally over 10,000, Monday-Friday. Less on the weekends.

@willdob3 I'm similar to you, but I set a minimum goal of 5,000. Depending on the day, that can be a challenge. Also having had cancer, I find don't have as much energy as I once did. I won't give up though, I keep working on it.

I get between 10 and 12,000 strips a day. The most I ever got was 30,000. That's when we were on vacation at Disney World. My feet were sore the next day.

My daily goal is 15,000 steps but I usually walk a minimum of 20,000 steps a day. I'm retired (72 yrs young!) and decided when I stopped working that I would walk more. I've been using the fitbit for 2 1/2 years and I love it! I walk a mininum of about 2 hrs every day outside (live in a nice quiet neighborhood so it's easy) and the rest inside the house - have a large area i can walk in the house. If weather is bad I can go to the local mall and walk. And during the summer I go to the shore a few days every week and walk a minimum of 26,000 steps on the boardwalk. I've done 30,000 steps a few times! So easy to walk on the boardwalk - so much to see and also very calming.! I just love to walk! And as long as I'm feeling good as I age, I'll continue my many steps per day! I recommend it highly for your own personal health!

I haven't hit 30,000 yet I but I've done as much as 28,000 plus several times. I try to average about 15,000. I go to my fitness center almost everyday and if I take two or three classes and walk the track, it's easy to get that many.
Also, sometimes we do chair aerobics at the center and those count, too. We use our hands and feet and the Fitbit counts it all. So I do this at home if I feel tired that day. I expect to have about 22,000 steps by tonight.
