You cannot get rid if tinnitus; you learn to live with it.  If you wear hearing aids, they can be adjusted to help mask the tinnitus.  There are therapies that train your brain to ignore the tinnitus.   But it is with you always and gets easier to tolerate the longer you have it.

Then my friend must have not had it, but that's what her doctor diagnosed her with.  She was able to get rid of it when she and her husband went high in the Rocky Mountains.  Her ears popped  and the ringing was gone.  Maybe there are other causes of ear ringing,

I had good luck with Ring Stop (health food stores). I was also diagnosed with T. but it luckily went away in 2-1/2 months.

I have tinnutis and understand why VanGogh cut off his ear - it is very very annoying!!  You might try Bioflavonoid which comes under several brand drugstore names.  My doctor recommended it for me.  Although it works for some people, I was not successful with it and it seems that my T is getting worse.

I have had it for many years.  It is very annoying.  Mine hasn't gotten any better, but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to.  I did try supplements in the beginning with no success.  At the time I was diagnosed, my ENT said there was nothing that would help it.

I have tinnitus, have for several years.  Wearing hearing aids has helped greatly - expensive remedy for sure, but I also need them for my hearing.  I also take supplements to help with it and after being on them for several months I'm doing MUCH better at night when going to sleep.  I used to require the tv on so the background noise would mask the ringing and then I'd fall asleep.  DH would  turn off the tv once I was sleeping.  Anyway, citrus bioflavanoids have been a successful treatment for some people and that's what's in the supplement I take.  It's called Diosmin & Hesperidin, and I get it from Vitacost.  I take one after breakfast and one after dinner.

The American Tinnitus Association (ATA) has a website.  You might find some good information there.

DH has it.  It really bothers him at bed time so, what helps him is his transistor radio.  He is also a ham operator and he sometimes listen to his portable radio.

He saw his doctor about it, had a hearing tests and was told there is no cure for this.

Background noise seems to help.  Some days are worse than others.
