Have you had it? What are the symptoms? I always thought the flu consisted of vomiting, diarrhea & aches & pains??? I have had lots of coughing, body aches, headache & a lot of post nasal drip but not stuffiness. Is this the flu? This started a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving & thought I was getting over it before we left for Fl. for Christmas & New Years. I felt better anyways but still had some coughing on & off. On the way home from Fl started coughing more again, body aches, headache, short of breath, wheezing & now freezing where I just cannot get warm. It's 60° here today & I'm cold which is really unusual since I'm always hot. I still have these symptoms today & seem to feel better one day & not so good the next. I just cannot get rid of this cough & I'm sick of it. I called the doctors office but of course I knew I would not be able to get in for 2-3 wks so I have not gone. You would think after about 2 months this would go away.

Me Too............so I'll just my 5 cents. I doubt if the OP has the flu - aches and aches and more aches is primary with the flu. I don't know if you live in a cold winter climate like I do - but with furnace heat blasting, dry air and cold temperatures - coughing and nasal problems are common. I have 2 humidifiers going 24/7 because extreme dry air causes the throat and nasal problems. If you had the flu - you would KNOW it! You probably have a 'bug''.

Do you have a temperature?

My experience with the flu was it came on REAL fast....within hours I felt BAD...high fever, sweats, aches and pains...body hurts...I also had chest bronchitis and a deep droopy cough. I felt real bad for two days....the third day I broke the fever....and started feeling better. I had no nausea, or vomiting with some flues....others I did have nausea and vomiting. I was Very weak. With a "bug" or cold it gradually comes on Over a few days....rarely a fever...lots of achy ness and runny nose, cough and usually a bad sore throat.....yuk!

I checked my temp & it was only 97.4°. It always runs low. I am hypothyroid. I do use humidifiers. The humidity in the house has been running 25-35%. Yes it does get cold here in the winter. Just had a nice day today & for a few more days before it gets cold again. No sore throat.

Mine did not come on fast. A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving I started coughing but did not feel sick. Day after Thanksgiving I felt like I got run over by a bus. The coughing got so bad my back & chest/ribs hurt from coughing so much. I did not think it was a cold either since when I have a cold my nose is stopped up & I cannot breathe through my nose. Have not had that problem. The coughing has gone away during the day & when night comes on I'm back to coughing.

There is some kind of bad sinus bug going around too. You may have the flu, but you might have a sinus infection or that sinus bug. The flu usually includes a fever, which it sounds like you have that too. Your symptoms sound like the flu to me, but I am not your doctor. If your mucus is green or yellow, you may have infection. Did you tell your doctor how long it's been going on? You need to be seen.

Mucus not green or yellow. Yes I told the doctor's office how long it's been going on. They said sorry they did not have any openings & if I needed to see him sooner I would have to go to the ER. I don't go to the ER unless it's a have to thing. I guess I should check out my Ins. & see how it works for the Minor Care Clinic. I forgot about that place. At least maybe they could do something for the cough & shortness of breath which is the worse part.

I am no doctor , but it sounds like a virus....with the flu you have a high temperature.

It sounds like you need an antibiotic since you've had it for three months. I can't believe your doctor doesn't have a Nurse Practitioner who can see you. I would go to a clinic.
