In May my husband was diagnosed with carcinoid cancer and was facing job loss. He has started on Sandostatin injections monthly at the oncologist's office. It is a drug that suppresses the hormone that the cancer is producing. So far he is responding very well. The diarrhea that plagued him has disappeared. His oncologist and primary doctor say although it is cancer, it is one of the better ones to have. A few months on the Sandostatin and then he will have blood drawn for tumor markers and possibly CT scan to evaluate the liver mets. He feels fine. He needs to gain weight and I need to lose. A classic case of Jack Spratt could eat no fat and his wife could eat no lean!!!

He will not be losing his job at this time. His office is not one of the one's being downsized. The issue of job loss was not of too much concern. I would have liked him to be home but we are grateful for this turn of events also.

I had my total abdominal hysterectomy six weeks ago. How time flies! I am feeling well although there are some days I get tired easily. Good news that there was no evidence of cancer in anything that was removed. I go back to work in two weeks. I have enjoyed being home but life goes on.

Thank you for all your concern and prayers during that awful month of May.
