I had my two shots a couple years ago.  The only reaction I had was soreness at the injection site.

Re: The Schingles Shot

[ Edited ]

@May5  My arm was sore for a few days, the injection site was a bit itchy,  and the shots hurt more than the usual injections but otherwise, no significant reaction.

I got my first Shingrix in Feb and due for second one.  It  was horrible.  BP shot up for a whole day, fever, chills, aches, headache for three days, very sore arm for months.

I am very reluctant to get that second shot.  I know it's a gamble, but really don't know what to do.  Time is running out.

As I mentioned upthread, I now get all shots in my butt cheek.  Much better location.  Consider that.

I'm scheduled to get mine on 8/15.  CVS sense me a reminder every other day but I'm going to have it done at my doctor's office.  Quicker and easier.

What?  How or why would CVS know your medical records and what you need?

(Sincere question.  I don't ever shop there, so I don't know why this would happen).

Did the first, single one and then the two/series.  No problem with any that I can recall.

I get all my prescriptions filled at CVS.  For many years.  I get my COVID, flu and pneumonia vaccinations from.  So, I think they made the leap that since they didn't give me the Shinrix vaccine, I probably haven't had one.  I'd get it there but you have to book vaccine appointments and the line can be long.

Had a sore arm for a couple days and I did feel a little "off" the next day but nothing bad. Hubby had a sore arm too but no other reaction at all. It's one of those things you are so glad to have done and over with!

The reaction you may get, is nothing compared to the agony of Shingles, get the shots !!!

If I may congratulate every person who got thre Shingles shot !  Let me tell you how my life changed when I got SHINGLES in 2005.

It was the day after we went to a party, I had a cute new outfit for the party, the next day I felt like I needed a nap, so I took one.

When I woke up there was a sore spot on the back of my left leg/butt area. I asked my husband to look to see if I had a boil or something there, it really hurt. He saw nothing. An hour later, I asked again because I couldn't sit  easily. There was a tiny red spot.

Later on I still felt yucky, and sore, he checked and there were several spots.

Advise Nurse gave me quick appointment, my doctor recognized the beginning of Shingles, which I never heard of. He gave me an Anti Viral shot, and wrote perscription for Percoset, one every 6 hours at first.

By the next evening I was in a lot of pain, and there was a mass of red spots.

It ended up covering my left thigh in the back, left buttocks, around the front onto my abdomen. Doctor told my husband to take pictures since this was a massive outbreak. He did, I still have them.

By the weeks end I was in such pain I couldn't stand to have clothing touch me. I had trouble sleeping.

Doctor increased my pain meds to Percoset- 2 every 4 hours, eventually added Morphine- long staying .

Bizzare things happened, I couldn't stand bright colors, my husband had to repaint a wall for me. I heard everything and it hurt my head, like my son opening a bag of potato chips, I couldn't stand the sound.

Months went by and eventually I was able to get dressed, but had to give away my hot tub, couldn't stand the hot water.

Years went by, honestly, years. I gave up the Percoset after 3rd year, but I was on the long lasting Morphine for a long long time. I gave it up myself 18 months ago.

Mostly now the area doesn't bother me, but still a couple times a month I describe it as it screams at me.

When the doctor asked me to describe the pain whern it was at it's worse, I said this, " It's llike I have millions of angy bees inside and they each have razer blades attached to their claws and they are trying to slice out of me" .

There was no Shingles shot when I got it, but my  doctor told me to take it last year so it doesn't come back, and I did!

I am thankful for my doctor and modern medicine.

Thank you for your time in reading this.
