@NickNack

I hope it does work, my Ortho was willing to do them every 8-10 weeks if I needed, I can not wait to get this started

@I am still oxox  I really hope the Synvisc injections will work for you!  I still wish I could have gotten them, but I'm hoping the cortisone shots will work well and last longer this time.

My dr. gave me some sample tubes of Voltaren gel & I used it on my knee when it was hurting & it seemed to help a lot.  I can't take the oral diclofenac, because it tears my stomach up, so this was a better option for me & I liked the option of only treating the body part that was hurting.

Re: Synvisc Injections

@aubnwa01  I used to use Voltaren gel on my knees, too.  I did think it was helpful, but I had to reapply it so often.  The doctor prescribed diclofenac today, because I told him that Mobic and Celebrex hadn't worked for me.  I'll pick up the prescription tomorrow and hope it helps.  Things don't usually bother my stomach, but he did mention to let him know if it did.

I just looked it up, and it said it can cause rapid weight gain.  I'll have to watch that.  I would hate for that to happen.

@NickNack

Diclofenac is generic Voltaren, I have heard that the pills are very storng, please be careful.

I just came back from getting the gel injection in my knee, it was really easy peasy, lets hope it works.

Whew it was a hassle getting the shot approved and I am so glad it is done now.

@I am still oxox  I read the side effects of diclofenac, and some of them were scary.  Reading about side effects is always scary though.  I think he gave me that one because I told him that Mobic and Celebrex hadn't worked for me.  I've used Voltaren cream on my knees before, and it did help.  I had to keep reapplying though, and it wasn't convenient.

I hope your injection works.  Did they tell you when you should start feeling better?

I just had a Synvisc shot in each knee a week ago and was told by the dr. it cost $3600!  I think I have to pay 15%. Anyway, I can't believe that for the first time in almost two years, I feel no pain and there is very little swelling in my knees.  It feels like I used to feel before I was diagnosed with RA, so I'm ecstatic over these shots.  The dr. said the insurance would only approve them every 6 months.  I'm hoping they last at least that long...

@Shogirl, I'm so glad that you had such a quick, as well as positive reaction to the Synvisc One.  My shots take three to four weeks to kick in. I've had at least three injections or the years.  The first go around was like a sudden miracle of relief just when I thought it wasn't going to work.  I always wait at least a year in between.  This last go around in April or May of this year took longer to kick in and not as much relief.  My orthopedic Dr. said to come in every six months but I just feel that he wanted the bucks.  Why should I get injections when I'm doing ok is my motto.  All medications have side effects, even when you don't feel them.  Good luck to you!
