Surgery for Cervical stenosis-anyone had it?

Hi everyone,

I am on my sixth week of recovery from this surgery. I finally got rid of the hard collar! I am still having some pain and occasional burning below the neck area. This started for me in June and finally saw a surgeon. using heat and acetamenphen. I didn't care for the Vicodin.

I had surgery for lower back stenosis 8 years ago - total success , woke up pain free in the recovery room and have been relatively pain free since.I occasionally will get a stab of something that can be resolved by changing my position or sitting down etc. However, i waited too long to have the surgery and now the nerve is damaged and I do have weakness in my rt leg that will never resolve. I have stenosis in my neck at C 5 6 7 but it is not ready yet for surgery. sadly, i guess that is in the future.

Hello Happy Housewife-thank you for your response. I am sorry that you had to go through the stenosis on your back. I wish you well.

As far as the neck stenosis goes-I feel better every day. I will hope for you good health in the future!

Tried celebrex worked for a while, tried steriod shots worked for a while . Trying to put off surgery as long as possible. There are many new advances coming for disk replacement, rather than fusion. I need four disks replaced . Doc says right now he can fuse two and replace two. Hoping in a few years to be able to replace four, but approvals still pending for more than two.

Hello PattiJ: I truly feel for your health condition. Sounds like you know about future treatment for it.

I didn't know anything other than what my surgeon told me. I trusted him as he had to do two surgeries on my back for extreme sciatica.

Feel better soon!
