Supplement Advice for Treating Arthritis

i've tried quite a few and haven't really found anything that seems to really work.  Anyone have any success with anything; and if so, please share.

Re: Supplement Advice for Treating Arthritis

Don't personally have arthritis, but know of countless people

who have overcome the pain & debilitation of arthristis

by just altering their food...i.e. Changing the diet.

Low Fat (no added oils), whole foods (no prepackaged foods),

plant-based diet (no animal products, dairy, eggs).

Naturally reduce the inflammation.

Re: Supplement Advice for Treating Arthritis

Wondering if you have researched using curcumin (turmeric) for pain. It seems to be a super food and might be worth it to check it out. Now supplements don't work very fast--usually in a few months so if you want instant gratification, that won't do. I take turmeric that has tart cherries in it  as well as black pepper that helps it work better. Usually there is no side effects but always check. I don't have arthritis but have neuopathy and stiff joints due to meds. I have started taking  a joint supplement that seems to help too. And then I take Tylenol at night for the pain.

I am contemplating buying Osteo Biflex (I may have spelled it wrong)  since  seeing the commercial.

Right now I use Tylenol

Re: Supplement Advice for Treating Arthritis

I have arthritis, and I take quite a few supplements, for various things.  Targeting the arthritis, I take glucosamine/chondroitin, tumeric, and a powdered collagen.

For years I didn't bother taking anything, thinking like other people, that supplements probably wouldn't work, be a waste of money, that I get what I need from food, but that wasn't the case.

Finally, because my discomfort was increasing, I decided to give the supplements an honest try, and I did get very good results.  My hands, for example, used to ache probably about 75% of the time.  Since taking the supplements, I would say I notice a discomfort perhaps 10% of the time.

It's definitely worth a try.

Re: Supplement Advice for Treating Arthritis

The supplements I use are ibuprofen and aspirin, honestly. Tried glucosamine/ chondroitin years ago and can't say it did anything for me. I've had osteoarthritis since I was 25.

I find that cutting out baked goods that I shouldn't have anyway, like cakes, danish, etc., and cutting back on bread really helps me feel less creaky, and my knees don't talk back as much. I actually feel better these days than I did 10 or 15 years ago. My my routine supplements include a general multi, Super B, extra calcium, Vitamin D3, B12 and C, and magnesium.

Vitamin D3 - this really helps with arthritis and pain in joints.  You might check to see if your D3 levels are low.

@patticakes

We are having luck with turmeric (Swanson) Omega 3 (Andrew Lessman) and Cat's Claw (DH for sciatica) and very sore sensitive feet. HTH

Re: Supplement Advice for Treating Arthritis

I had painful fingers from arthritis and started taking a shot of Noni juice daily.  It took about 3 months but the pain and stiffness are now gone.  I met a 92 year old woman a few years ago that is so active and goes on at least 3 bus trips a month and she swears by it and has used it since she was 60.  I also found  Omega 3 to help with inflamation.  Andrew Lessman's does not have a fishy aftertaste and is the best I found.
