I just received a JP Reformer (purchased from ebay in original packing/box).  This is the machine that came out in the early 2000's with the built in stand.  I was looking for something smaller than my 5 cord due to home down sizing.  I have to say , resistance on 1 cord (it's a 3 cord machine) is more than 2 cords on my old one.  Guess I didn't realize how much they needed tightening!  My question is, what can I treat the rails with to make a smoother ride?  I cleaned the rails but think they could be smooth......any ideas?  A touch of WD40?

Re: Stamina Pilates JP Reformer

WD 40 tiny amount. Or use what folks use for drawers, candle drawn along the track (wax on the guide) or soap can work too. Can you swap cords?  My reformer round glides seemed more kind of bumpy.

Re: Stamina Pilates JP Reformer

TY!  will try soap or candlewax first.   The cords are very strong on this little machine...I thought I was getting stronger since I was using more cords on the 5 cord machine - now I know they were very loose.  Will only need 2 cords at first...will swap one of them later for a red cord.

I have read of people having the change the wheel/gliders due to wear..could that be what is causing your bumpy glide?

@BHawk

Why do you feel this machine needs something put on it's rails?  Stamina increased the number of cords for a reason. Along with more cords came a wider sled(by several inches). It obviously also gave the user more flexibility in it's use.

Seems like they came out with, I think, a Red cord you could swap out if you wanted more resistance. Had my Pilates PremierXP for many years and have never put WD/Wax/Soap or 3 in 1 oil on the rails.

The pulleys? Different story.
