AHHHH---sleep!!! The bane of my existence!!! I am a horrible sleeper--always have been since I was little--mostly insomnia and if I get 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep ---I feel like I won the lotto!!!  that doesn't happen very often. Am taking Ativan to get me to sleep--have tried the other sleep aids--most have weird side effects---I've been told that a sleep study would not help with insomnia--I don't have apnea.  So I try all the other garbage that has been suggested--most have absolutely no effect on me. I do think magnesium does help and I take that before bed. Not eating hours before bed helps too---but mostly am tired all the time. and now am waking up at 3:30 a.m.---right on the second----why??? I have no idea--makes for a very long day. If I could nap , that would be great---grrrrrr!!!

Do you exercise about a half hour a day and take vitamins like magnesium.

Qi jong is really easy and helps with breathing exercises.

If I tried a sleep study would be up all night worrying about it while it was going on.

I do not exercise have physical disabilities, I take vitamin B and vitamin C. I am afraid of a sleep study due to my asthma

I've had sleep studies done and I see no correlation between that and asthma.

You can start out with an oxygen finger tester that you wear overnight.  You really should be a pulmonologist.  The test is painless and paid for by medicare.

If your oxygen levels are low that could be the reason you wake up.  And if they are too low and you don't wake up you could die in your sleep.

I don't understand your hesitancy regarding this issue.

I am claustrophobic and can not stand anything on my head

There is nothing even remotely claustrophobic with a sleep study.   The only thing on your head are a few electrodes.   I had one done years age

I slept better when I had babies..

Now I pretty much "nap" on and off all night..Sometimes a short nap in the afternoon..not often.

DH has dementia and I'm afraid to sleep that I might not hear him wandering..

I had a sleep study done 3 years ago at home. No electrodes.  I was given a device with several straps on it holding a small electronic box.  It fits around your head and nostrils.

It is small and you turn it on when retiring.  It runs and shuts itself off.  I had to bring it to the doctor's office the next day.

Can your watch detect snoring.  Mine does.  Mine always shows very little deep sleep.  I don't usually wear it to bed tho.

I don't know if they still do it, but when I had a sleep study test decades ago, they came to my house.  I was able to sleep in my bed and I know that's why I was able to sleep at all.  If I had gone to a clinic, I would have been awake all night.
