I have suffered indoor/outdoor allergies all my life. It has caused me so many days of being laid up, calling in sick and trying anything for relief, but nothing ever helped. I can't do neti pot due to deviated septum. I would get what I called "episodes" of crushing sinus pain that would last a couple days and I'd be totally dysfunctional and the pain would often cause nausea/vomiting. I came to discover that taking daily Allegra (non-drowsy anti-histamine) was causing more damage than good. It was preventing natural draining of my sinuses and causing things to be too dry and "stuffed" feeling. I quit it and switched to a natural anti-allergy remedy called Quercetin. I solely rely on this and RARELY ever have an episode. I never call in sick anymore with sinus problems. So to make a long story short, I think a lot of the meds seem to help at first but in the end cause problems with continued usage.

This is my go to bottle and sinus rinse, but there are times you need more.

+1 for NeilMed. It is very easy to use. Costco has had the two bottle kit occasionally.
I also send in for the free bottle when I buy the refill packs. I sometimes leave my bottle when I travel, so I travel with an old bottle now just in case I leave it.

Yes, me too. In early spring, I use a prescription astelin spray for really bad days. That one works well for me, so I stick with it. I use OTC Allegra most of the year.

I know this is probably a strange question but how exactly do you use this stuff?? I mean I know it's pretty basic = you just squirt the solution up each nostril, but then do you just blow your nose and just immediately release the solution or what? I have a bottle of the stuff and I don't see where it says anything. I am having such sinus headache and I'm wanting some relief but don't want to take a bunch of medications. Thanks!

@alicedee wrote:I get painful sinus headaches from time to time...they always occur when a weather front is approaching. Never have a stuffy or runny nose with them, just sharp pain behind my left brow bone.
It runs in my family. My Dad got those headaches, as do several of my sibs, my son and one of my grandsons.
Prior to menopause they turned into full blown migraines, but now they are managed with an over the counter pain reliever.
If you have stuffiness, I also recommend a neti pot.
@alicedee I think we must be related.

@Icegoddess Could be! I'm sorry you have to deal with it...it can be quite painful. 🌷

There is no one person who can provide the perfect answer for you.
However, I would recommend, and I say this with an amount of trepidation, as I've never done this before, that you "Page" long-time board member "LLT." She suffered unbelievable sinus issues for many years, has received some relief, seen a number of specialists and would probably have the right kind of advice to impart. Please tell her that "sfnative" (rebecca) recommended that you contact her regarding your present sinus dilema.
All the best.

I still have the headache and nasal discomfort. Today I am gong to try my facial sauna for some steam, I already have humidifiers going in the living room, (20 feet or so from where I am sitting) and in the bedroom.
I am also going to get out and "change the air" in my lungs, I think the second thing will do wonders for me
