The severity of shingles varies from person to person. I was young when I got shingles. I was 30. Went to the doctor where he diagnosed me and gave me many prescriptions to get filled. This was back in the 80's. I was trying to conceive at that time so I never did fill any of those prescriptions. My shingles wasn't bad at all. Just a minor inconvenience for me. My dad contracted shingles after my mom died (stress related). Now his was BAD. In fact he lost hearing in one ear from it. Take care. Hope you feel better soon.

I have read that different people have different experiences. I will pray for your pain to subside. After all, you have Emmie to look after!

Tissyanne, you are so sweet! Thanks for the prayers, you're an angel! Yesterday was Emmy's birthday! I got her a flannel pet blanket, she absolutely loves, made my day! We got 12 inches of snow yesterday and its only 8 degrees this afternoon! Hope your weather is better~!

I'm sorry about your son, good thing his eye is ok! Bless his heart!

If you have "some sensitivity" in the area where your shingles rash was -- you're probably pretty lucky! Quite a few people have severe pain in the affected nerves that lingers for months or even longer after a shingles outbreak. I know people who've had to be on narcotic pain meds for extended periods. I'm glad the worst of your outbreak is over, and I hope the residual discomfort will also pass quickly. Shingles are no fun!

I had shingles on the side of my waist in my early 40's. Not very painful and went away pretty quickly.
