Medicare Part D covered- cost me eight dollars. Return for the booster between September and January. Realize everyone has different opinions on vaccines.

Publix Pharmacy!! Special Thanks. Entire experience, quite pleasant.

Re: Shingle Vaccine-Shingrix

I had the old vaccine two years ago. My pharmacist recommended that I get the new one (series of two shots), because it's much more effective.  I had the first one done last month and will get the next one in September.  Contrary to what I saw posted on another thread, he clearly told me that it is NOT a live vaccine and there is no chance of contracting the virus from the vaccine.

I should also add that my pharmacist said it could make the injection site more sore than previous vaccines. He advised me to take Advil when I got home and to put ice on it for a while.  I did that.  I had no problems whatsoever - a little soreness, but nothing unusual.

Re: Shingle Vaccine-Shingrix

DH & I had annuals with our PCP and we all are waiting until next annual to do this new one. Dr H said he'll have this in his own office to administer. I'll have no excuse not to get this one done now. I admit I've been putting this one off so in the long run I'll be glad to get it.

Re: Shingle Vaccine-Shingrix

I contacted my supplemenatal insurance company this morning.  I was told that with my coverage, it is much cheaper to get it in a pharmacy than in the doctor's office. Apparently, the co-pay is what differs from PCP to pharmacy.  I checked with my pharmacy today, and they have no vaccine due to a shortage.  I'll be contacted when they get more vaccine. My DH had a mild case of shingles, and was miserable.  I want to be covered.

Re: Shingle Vaccine-Shingrix

My CVS has had a very difficult time getting in the new vaccine.  Hence, I'm going to put off getting this shot for awhile until it becomes more readily available.  My fear is that the same shortage will exist when the second shot is due....what happens if one misses that recommend due date?

As an aside, a friend got the second shot recently and it was a bit more troublesome to her than the first one.  She couldn't sleep at all the night of the shot, and the next day her arm was red and swollen around the injection sight and quite sore.

@mac116

My doctor told me the same thing. I'm still waiting for a call from the pharmacy, as I'm on a waiting list.

Re: Shingle Vaccine-Shingrix

My doctor isn't carrying the shot and told me to go to a pharmacy and all the pharmacies I've been to don't have it.  I had to go on a call list.  They said the company that makes the shot didn't realize how popular it would be.  Duh!!!

Re: Shingle Vaccine-Shingrix

I went to Kroger to get my second shot, and they were out.  They said they would call me when it came in.  I called Walgreens to see if they had it, and they said they think all the pharmacies are out.  They took my name and number and said they would call me when it came in, too.  I've got three more months before I absolutely have to have the second shot, so hopefully it will be in way before then.

@Sweet_Serenity   Pfizer has a laws uit against them for this vaccine.    This is nothing but a money maker for Big Pharma.    I would never do it!
