I am a side sleeper and have been experiencing pain when I get up in the morning. I tried one of the pillows designed to keep your leg elevated but returned it because I had a hard time keeping it in position. Has anyone been successful using one of the pillows and if yes, can you recommend the brand? TIA

@maisiebrook. I use one of the pillows made to be held between the knees because my knee aches at night. Doesn't help Sciatica.
For Sciatica I stretch out the leg that hurts, point and toes hard away from me and hold it for 10 sec or so. Then I stretch my toes (foot) back toward me very hard and hold I t to 10 seconds. Do this lying in bed or sitting in a chair for as long as possible. It helps me m.ore than anything else

I do that too! No one told me it just is instinctual somehow.

I can guarantee that @Kachina624 's exercise works. She first posted that method several years ago, when I had an excruciating sciatic episode that had lasted for almost a YEAR.
I got immediate relief...and any time I feel the sciatica coming back...I do the "stretch". It's been a lifesaver for me. di

I also do the stretch described. I also do both knees to chest and hold till count of 10 and do a few times. Also, slowly roll side to side, knees to chest. Just be slow and gentle.

the pyriform stretch will help sciatic pain. Its a staple exercise in PT. Google it. Very easy to do

@smoochy Thanks for the lead on the stretch exercises. This will be easy to fit into my regular exercise routine.
