Scheduled appointment 7/8/25 to discuss catract surgery

Hi Y'all last week had 2 1\2 hour eye doctor appointment to test for glaucoma. I don't have glaucoma. Cataracts grew fast my right eye, the good eye stated cataract size 4. Very shocked that he wants to do cataract surgery on my left eye but stated he could improve the vision.I have astigmatism in both eyes and stated special lens could correct problems and cataracts.

I failed the vision field test for my right eye. My lower back was really hurting trying to sit up and close to the machine. That test will be done again on 7/8. My friend in Tennessee  stated her eye office has the goggles for the vision field test and so much better because you can sit comfortable in the regular eye exam chair.

Told Doctor about my bad lower back and difficult to lay flat and with Gerd  can't lay flat without coughing. Told him that I am a wimp and scared. Stated no problem. Surgery 10 to 15 minutes. I have watched the videos he sent.

Had the cataract surgery last summer...and it always "sounds" worse than it is (!!!).

Outpatient surgery centers are VERY accommodating  to your personal needs.    (Actually, I was ticked off that it cost me over $300 in cab fare!)

@SouthernBee. I daresay many of us could write the book on cataract surgery.  I must say I've never had a 2 1/2 hrs eye exam; your doctor is very slow.   Did I understand you correctly that you were lying down?

Cataract surgery is a piece of cake.  No pain, minor inconvenience,  nothing to fear so don't worry about it.

I don't have cataracts or glaucoma but had the lens replacement surgery they do for those with cataracts to correct my vision.  No more glasses or contacts.  The surgery was a breeze and the results are wonderful.

Good luck with your appointment.

@YanksFan   @SouthernBee   Yes, I had the trifocal lens replacement surgery 13 YEARS AGO!

Have perfect vision. No eyeglassess.  Each eye was a 7 minute surgery.  Go for yearly exams.  My eyes as good as ever.

I also had astigmatism and my vision was so poor prior to surgery I couldn't drive.  Now...Just had vision test at MVD and passed with flying colors.

Highly recommend this surgery.

Oh, also, I DID have cataracts and the surgeon also removed them before implanting the trifocal lenses.

@Kachina624 : Several different test were done and a lot of different eye drops were used. This is the best rated eye center available in my city.

Doctor said it was necessary to be lying down  and more details provided next visit.

I have a friend that is scheduled 6/3 for the preoperation visit and told 2  1/2 to 3 hours.

@Desertdi   I was referred to a wonderful transportation company that specializes in taking seniors to med appts.  ENVOY TRANSPORTATION.

I use them when I have my epidural back injections way up in north Scottsdale.  The cost from my north central Phx home to med facility about HALF of what you paid AND the driver (excellent) stayed with me at the facility while procedure taking place and drove me home.  Just a FYI.
