I had a EGD done last week my doctor says I have a Schatzki ring.  She prescribed Pantoprazole.    What have you guys taken for your Schatzki ring?    Did it help and how long did you have to take the PPI for?   Any side effects?  My doctor did not say I would need dilations.   I don't have any symptoms from it.

@marip I was diagnosed with this very young, I've had several dialations over the years.

i had a little episode day after Christmas and went to ER, back on Prilosec.

 Need to make an appointment with Gastro most likely for a scope.
i took different RX over the years and was off all for about two years. These meds can cause bone loss, which leads to osteoporosis which I was diagnosed with a couple years ago, so just be ware. Sometimes we have to take the med to not have issues, but causes other issues!

I have it and it comes and goes. I have an AI disease, scleroderma, where my esophagus has narrowed especially in the lower part near the stomach. I don't take anything for it but I have to be careful with what I eat. I never go to bed with food in my stomach so I eat my last meal hours before I lay down. Otherwise I'm suffering with reflux. So far things are okay. No meds!

That's really good no meds!  Changing food / times didn't work for me.  They told me at last diagnostic test because of the long term damage effects of GERD that I'd need to be on Prilosec.

Because it can cause even more bone loss not crazy about taking that drug as I know you wouldn't either because of osteoporosis.

I take pantoprazole daily and have had 2 dilatations since my diagnosis.  I start to have problems swallowing and getting food stuck that I can't get down.  Medication helps and periodic treatment for the narrowing recurrence.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

@Jk9

Just a few weeks ago I had a piece of apple get stuck and it seemed like forever before it finally went down. Hurt like the dickens! It was my fault for not chewing the apple into smaller pieces before swallowing it. Sometimes I just forget to chew my food extra long! I'm a creature of habit.

Oh my gosh @SilleeMee,  isn't that just the worst!  I tend to get meats like steak caught so I have to be sure to cut all meats into little bitty pieces.  Fortunately, it's only happened at home.

@Jk9    Do you get side effects from the medicine and how long have you been on the PPI?
