Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration

I had an injection about 5 years ago.  My arm has never been the same since but until recently it has not been too much of a problem.  Not sure why the sudden flair up of discomfort especially in the morning.  Anyone else have this experience?

I have been doing arm exercises and use topical creams (Aspecream or Salonpas) and they do help.

@bargainsgirl,

That is awful! I've never heard of this. Yikes!

   " Injections that occur below the deltoid muscle can hit the radial nerve and injections that are too far to the side of the deltoid muscle can hit the axillary nerve. If a nerve is hit, the patient will feel an immediate burning pain, which can result in paralysis or neuropathy that does not always resolve. "

   You'd be surprised  that  some healthcare workers  who are supposed to be trained  in proper vaccine administration  get very sloppy and do not locate the deltoid muscle prior  to injection or  they are standing stooping over  a patient  to administer a vaccine.

The preson administering the injection is supposed to be at the same level  as the patient  either - sitting or standing .

 Now a days , difficult to say as to who is administering the vaccine.

         Yes!  That happened to me as well.  I have never said anything to anyone because I thought it odd.  I have been getting a shot in my shoulder about once a year which has helped.

My body "fights" vaccine injections.  They form a hard lump like an acne pimple, and eventually ooze out.

Might be worth it to go back to the doctor and confirm that it is the same issue.  It could be something else.  Good luck.

Cortisone shots?  I am not at that point and hopefully won't get there!  Certain motions are bothersome mostly lifting in an upward motion.  Once overhead, not a problem.

Ugh! Sorry you are experiencing this.  Could the extra am discomfort be from your sleeping posture? Maybe you're laying on that side?

No not sure why the heck this has flaired up!  It seemed to come on rather suddenly from the usual slight ache at times.  I'm doing Classical Stretch and Essentrics arm exercises so hopefully it will help. Only certain movements hurt.

@bargainsgirl

Reading your post makes me think I'm dealing with the same thing.

My discomfort started about a year ago, but has increased in the last 4 months; I use capcaisin cream, lidocaine patches and have taken more Aleve than I ever took before and after both knee replacements, to achieve some relief.  My pain is centered across that right deltoid muscle and is a deep ache, not like surface pain.

I am right hand dominant; instinctively reach, lift, pull, carry, etc. with my right arm, so it seemed quite logical my pain was coming from stress and overuse.  Resting the arm made no difference which is how I realized the pain comes from deep in the muscle.  I do not sleep on my right side ever.

I am aware of the increase in my adult vaccinations; not just a yearly flu shot, but I've also had a swine flu shot, Tdap booster, 2 pneumonia vaccines, Covid vaccines 2x a year for 3 years, etc.   This pain is at the top of my list to discuss at my next medical appt., and I'm hoping my provider is aware it's a real thing.
