Re: Rite Aid closing store in Michigan and Ohio

Very sad.

Just wondering if your Rite-Aid used to be called Read's.

In Baltimore all the Read's became Rite-Aid's (this would have been over 20 yrs ago).

Probably not. It's far more likely that Read's was purchased by Rite Aid.

[ Edited ]

I spent the bulk of my career in finance in the pharmaceutical industry and have been responsible for managing the credit risk exposure of the vast majority of the major wholesalers and drug retail chains. Having analyzed their financial reports for many years, I'm not the least bit surprised by who is struggling and who is doing well.

I almost never go into a drug store.  I find them very depressing for some reason.  If I need meds, I go to CVS in Target, or our Publix pharmacy.

I have lived in Baltimore my entire 71 years and we had Reads on just about every corner, Run Right to Read's !!!

Now many of our Rite Aids have closed.

I think a big part of the problem is shoplifting !!!

I read last week Walgreens will close many stores.

Hi Shelbelle,

That's what I thought, that the Read's chain was taken over by Rite-Aid, in the Baltimore area anyway.
