@wagirl   It's good to hear that it's working for you. I hope it will for me. It's always been a little sad to me that they make a medicine  that can help so many people ...out of the price range for so many. At first we thought that we would be paying around $6000 dollars this year but found out our insurance would pay for much of that. I'm hoping to avoid more open heart surgery and more strokes if it works for me.  I know "there is a time to live and a time to die"

Maybe God will give me a few more years

on this medicine. If not, I'm glad I'm ready to go when my time comes.

@wagirl == I finally found the correct site for HealthWell. Right now their open funds are closed right now due to insufficiant funding.  I will continue to look  when their open funding opens.  Thank you again. I will also give them my text and email to receive notifications when the funds are available.

@DJP --Oh good!! Glad you found them--and yes, they do close the various things they will give a grant for due to when funds run out--however--it usually isn't forever--I got a notice this last July/Aug that there was grant money available for the cholesterol one and I got right on it and received the grant I have now. But wondering if you could fill out th paperwork to be eligible for the next round? Might as well do all that to make the process easier.Did you talk to someone about it all? I donate a small amount of $$ each month to the cause--it's not much but feel very beholden that I am lucky enough to be a recipient. that kind of stuff doesn't happen to me much.

@wagirl - I will give them a call. My cardi and insurance did approve Repatha a couple of months ago, but when I called and found out the price I told them not to fill it. That's when I started Zetia.

I thought I would call HealthWell first to find out if I should apply right away or talk to my cardi first in order to get a script from him. Somehow I will work it out!

Thank you again for your help.

@DJP ---Yes do call the foundation and get them to explain the whole program to you. They are very nice people  and they will tell you the order you will need to do all this. I called repatha website as they offered a discount, which I didn't qualify for---for whatever weird reason--think because I had Medicare---or I wore glasses or I was right handed or some stupid reason.Woman Mad but they were the ones who gave a few phone numbers and the Healthwell foundation was one of them. I did all the leg work then my dr helped out with the rest, which they did without any hassel.

@wagirl

I *think* it’s still illegal for drug manufacturers themselves to offer the discounts to Medicare patients.

@bikerbabe ---I have never heard of such a thing, so maybe that is why I didn't get Repathas discount----
