@jubilant wrote:@SouthernBee Believe me, I understand how hard it is. I tried all the wall huggers thay had at a big store. Still they had a lot more that weren't wall huggers. I tried all the buttons till I was sure they had lumbar and the right neck positions for me. They delivered them a couple of days ago and I am really liking mine.
I'm only 5'3 and my feet don't touch the floor on the Homestretch recliner. It, however isn't so deep as some others I sat in...it just takes one swoop back and then I use the power controller to do whatever I need. Both of these chairs go back pretty far or , at least, as far as my body needs them, too.
I'm wondering if you could get an exchange after you have tried a chair out at home for a few days. They do that with mattresses. I guess we just got lucky this time because it's hard to make a decision. One time I did have a chair that was a rocker recliner and it tipped over on me! That was a shocker...Ha!
They did let me return it and pick out another chair.
@jubilant : I am 5'. We had to special order a chair for DH and now worried about that because he is very difficult to shop for. They said I had 3 days to decide then had emergency. It has been two months. Really trying to keep the option after his chair is delivered to return if possible. I found a recliner cover to keep my chair in good condition if I decide to sell it later. Just very stressful and frustrating.

We are on the hunt for a recliner for my DH because he can no longer sleep in a flat bed. The only recliner we've seen that might work is from a special "needs" store. They will fit the chair to you. One of the first things we learned is that your feet should not hang over the foot rest. The chair has special interior foam and the thing does everything except make coffee.... (I know, I asked). We're really considering it, but in our quest for this chair he has looked at many, many chairs, top notch, name brand chairs....this is a hard and expensive thing to do!

@Q4u Just saw this post. I agree...it's not easy finding the right chair. I also agree that the feet should not hang over the end of the foot rest. I'm only 5'3" so that wasn't hard for me to find. What was hard was getting the lumbar to hit me at the lumbar area. Many of them it hit me in the middle of my back. So far, the leather Flexsteel fits my body the best as far as that goes. We have had our chairs now for several weeks and both are comfortable but I like the Flexsteel the best.

Check out Southern Motion Zero Gravity chairs. You can order them on-line at various sites (Overstock.com has pretty good prices on them) and your local furniture stores may carry them. Whether you go with Southern Motion or not, what you really need is zero gravity recliner.

Try a recliner/chair lift. The recliners that bring you to a standing position. Most fully recline. You'll want a larger one since your main objective is to sleep in one. My Mom had one and it was so helpful. An adjustable bed may also be a good option. We got one last year and I'll never be without one again.
