My doctor does test for A1C, but I thought she was just testing for diabetes.

@juanitalinda A1C tests for glucose over a period of time. If it's elevated, that is strongly linked to chronic inflammation.

Your doctor knows best, but if your A1C is high, that usually means inflammation is present because of the high sugar levels in your body.

Re: Question on inflammation

Be very careful with Turmeric. I am on Xarelto because I had blood clots last June. It is not compatible at all with Turmeric.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I read lots of comments about inflammation.  But it occured to me that I don't even know if I have inflammation.    My only doctor is a PCP and she has never commented on it one way or another.

Do your doctors regularly test for it? And what tests do they use to determine it?

Do a ChatGPT and a lot of information comes up. All the names of the tests and how to reduce inflammation @juanitalinda.

True enough, but I was also interested to see if most doctors routinely test for inflammation, since mine obviously does not.

I asked the same question recently of my doctors.Cardiologist , Endocrinologist and Vascular surgeon. All were evasive but my Vascular physician said the real reason is unless you have a complaint most physicians won't test. Guess why? Insurance companies don't want to pay for the tests. That's the excuse my cardiologist had for not testing my carotid arteries before having a stroke 3 years ago. All about the $$$$ with insurance companies @juanitalinda.

So sorry to hear about your stroke ... and yes, the $$$ get in the way of good health way too often.

Normally, inflammation causes tenderness or pain and you would know it was there!

Re: Question on inflammation

Inflammation doesn't always come with pain. Inflammation can occur in any part or system in the body acutely or chronically over stretches of time w/o notice. Most inflammation can be controlled by dietary and lifestyle changes. It's often preventable and manageable.

Re: Question on inflammation

I have gotten a inflammation test occasionally called a CRP that measures inflammation--now I had to request that be added to my blood labs.
