My doc told me today, based on a few problems I'm having (won't go into them here, TMI!) that he wants me to start on probiotics and recommended I talk to my pharmacist(s) (they are wonderful) about which ones to take.

Anyone here take any brand they would recommend? I saw on advertised by Phillips on TV called Colon Health. Any suggestions from anyone? Many thanks Smiley Happy

Re: Question about probiotics

I just finished my first bottle of Rewnew Life Women's Care Ultimate Flora. 25Billion cultures. I have stomach issues, UTIs and other TMI stuff. I saw this on Dr Oz not saying he is good or bad on the the advise, just saying. It's not cheap but I thought I would try it. I have felt better and just bought a second bottle.  I had been taking anoither cheaper one and was kind of a waste of money. There is so much probitic info that it's mind boggling. Basicly I wanted this one with Flora for women issues. Then you want the large number of cultures or strains. My doctor said it was a good one to take when I was there for totally unrelated issue. Sinus infection. Sometimes after taking a course of antibiotics women get a problem. Again TMI. Anyway I am taking them. There are probably a lot of people who have a lot more info than me, I am just giving you my experience. Good luck.

Re: Question about probiotics

[ Edited ]

Been taking a probiotic complex supplement for many years, and I really like the ones by 'Now Foods' (orange label) and 'Renew Life' (yellow label).

Probiotics are not only great for human and animal GI systems, but also offer immune support.

It's recommended to take one with at least 15 billion CFU's, and keep it refrigerated to maintain efficacy.

Re: Question about probiotics

@Love my grandkids  My DH and I take the Vitacost 15/35 and have no complaints.  That means 15 strains/35 billion colony forming units (CFU's).

Re: Question about probiotics

I take 1MD complete platinum probiotics - on their website, google best rated probiotic.  It's not exactly cheap, but it has allowed me to stop my daily prescription for heartburn.  That is priceless to me.

Good luck to you.

Re: Question about probiotics

Base upon recommendation from this forum, I use VSL #3 112.5 Billion strains. This is a medical grade probiotic and does require refrigeration. When traveling I use Florastor so to not have to deal with frig.
