Re: Possible Encephalitis

[ Edited ]

There are cases of  mosquitos carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Mass counties right now with eleven mosquito samples testing positive.

There have been three cases of human West Nile in Mass in 2023.

@goldensrbest @There's a page for health providers about testing for EEE you can look at here. It seems to indicate that results might take awhile. I used blue lettering for the link to it.

"More information, including all West Nile virus and EEE positive results, can be found on the Arbovirus Surveillance Information webpage at Mosquito-borne Diseases | Mass.gov, which is updated daily, or by calling the DPH Division of Epidemiology at 617-983-6800."

@Mindy D , I have thought of that, they have tested for so much, mass/general will not accept their insurance, it seems, from begaining to today it has been 5 ,or 6 wks,in and out of hospitals, i just don't understand why no one knows for sure what is wrong.

When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.

@goldensrbest There is a phone number that maybe someone might call about how to get a hospital to do the testing.

@goldensrbest @What hospital is the person in? Even if the hospital isn't the best for treating either illness they can still send samples to the state laboratory. The hospitals themselves do not check for these illnesses. They specimens have to be sent to the state lab. Maybe the hospital has already sent the specimens in and they are awaiting the results of the testing.
