I had a colonoscopy yesterday. I have had a few and each time was a different prep. In the past, I have been prescribed the pills and also the Go-Litley gallon drink.
This time I used the MiraLax and Dulcolax prep. I had no trouble tolerating this prep at all. I was suppose to begin at 8 PM the night before with 7 servings mixed in 28 ozs of Gatorade. Then I was to repeat at 3 AM the morning of the procedure with 7 servings mixed with 28 ozs of Gatorade. There was no way I was going to get up and drink anything at 3 AM. I began the prep at noon with the first half. I then did the second half at 11 PM. By the time I started the second half of the prep, I was pretty much cleaned out. I was able to get a full nights rest with only getting up twice and then was able to go right back to sleep.
I did the liquid fast for 2 days rather than 1 prior to the procedure. I also ate light on the 3rd day before the procedure. I think this was a big help with prepping. I was prescribed 2 GasEX before each MiraLax/Gatorade concoction. I used the white Arctic Blast flavor. (cherry) While it was sweet, it wasn't distasteful.
I was also prescribed 2 Dulcolax tablets for the two days prior to be taken at 4 PM. I did this also on the 3rd day prior.
If you have a choice of prep, I really recommend this one.

@tends2dogs - this sounds like it indeed may be better than the traditional method. I can't do the Go-lightly whatever it is. I start throwing up and other things that I won't go into here. Can't imagine drinking that much Gatorade but at least you can pick your flavor.

DH has his colonoscopy a couple of months ago. His prep was 12 Sutab tablets and a quart of clear liquids of any kind over the next hour. Then 4 hrs later, 12 more tablets and more liquids. Total: 24 small products, 96 oz liquids as long as not red, orange, or purple. From 5pm until12 am. Easy- peasy. I will insist on this prep when I am due for my next procedure. He drank lemonade, gatorade, sprite, pedialyte, etc. So much better and easier than what I have had to do in the past. I never even realized he was doing the prep until he was almost through with it.

@JudyL I actually used the 20 oz bottle and added sparkling lemonade (from Aldi) half and half. It actually was good. It did get a little sickeningly sweet toward the end. I am not a sweets person.
The GoLitlely was a "chug fast" prep. This was a sip and somewhat enjoy drink.

I learn a little each time. Mine was in May. If I had it to do over, I would add the miralax to something that I could actually swallow easier. Then sip the Gatorade to replenish electrolytes.
I did take the advice of someone about eating lighter earlier. I started watching my diet four days ahead, and each day went with smaller and lighter fare.
Breezed through it!

I've us Gatorade before. By the time I finished, I never wanted to smell or taste Gatorade ever again

@JudyL I had a very bad experience with my last colonoscopy. I won't go into details...but I can not even look at a bottle of Gatorade to this day. I didn't have a voice for almost a week afterwards from the throwing up. I will have to request a different method next time if there is one.

I have the same problem. The Go-Lightly makes me throw up and I cant drink that much Gatorade either. I might consider doing a Cologuard if I need to.

Seems like a lot but it's certainly better than that gallon jug of Golytely. I didn't have some issues with the smaller, 2 drinks. I had to will myself to keep it down. The salty taste was the problem. I had polyps removed last week so I need a new other colonoscopy in a year. I'll ask for the pills. That requires a lot of water but it won't be salty so I can do that.

I used the Miralax/Ducolax prep this time. I cannot drink Gatorade and my Dr. said it was OK for me to do it with water. It was easy. Had to do again in the AM of the test, but could not finish the entire amount. Dr. said if things were running clear, I did not have to drink the entire amount in the AM.
I was clear and only did less than half in the AM. Dr. has no issue with the colonoscopy and the images were clear for dianogtics.
Easy prep this time.
