Re: Phytoceramides - Andrew Lessman - How are they working for you so far?

@Nightowlz Have you tried something with salicylic acid in it instead of using benzoyl peroxide products which tend to be really drying? Beta hydroxy acid (bha) is salicylic acid.

@HappyDaze Yes I bought Paula's Choice 2% BHA when Q had the special large/small bottle set. I put it on a cotton ball & lightly used it on my face. In less than 2 wks my face was all dried out.

I washed my face with Exfolikate & moisturized the 1st Sat morning of Feb. It was a really nice day for Feb so we were sitting outside. I forgot about using the exfolikate & should not have been in the sun without SPF. My face looked like I had hives. That's when all my problems started.

Right now it feels soft & smooth except the areas on my left cheek but if I put on makeup you can see all the dry patches. I need to get rid of that 10x mirror. LOL!!!

ahhh I cannot use exfolikate at all. It has so many drying ingredients and irritants in it. It contains drying alcohol (SD Alcohol 40-B) and citrus oils and both AHA and salicylic acid, which I cannot use as it is too drying for my skin. Then if you were using even more BHA on top of the exfolikate, that would just be way too much AHA and BHA! Many people cannot use both an AHA and a BHA, especially if you use both in the same day. Do you use exfolikate regularly?

Re: Phytoceramides - Andrew Lessman - How are they working for you so far?

I just started an SA product from my derm a few weeks ago.  Because my skin is sensitive and I have rosacea, she has me using it every 3rd day.

I haven't had any issues with dryness or redness so far with this method.

I used the SA in the morning and alternate with metro gel on the off days and use Retin A every night for 3 weeks.  I take an entire week off before I get my brows waxed.

@HappyDaze I don't use it anymore. I have the Clinique 7 day scrub & Origins Modern Friction. The Proactive seemed to exfoliate my face of the dry patches when I first started but now my face is getting drier even with moisturizer.

I was not using the AHA & BHA at the same time that I know of. I should try again once per week & go from there. I used to be able to use all these type products without all these problems so not sure what's going on. I think it has more to do with hormones & no more estrogen plus I'm also hypothyroid.

I've tried phytoceramides before (not Andrew's) for 2 months and noticed nothing. Now, with taking collagen I have noticed an improvement. I started taking the collagen about a year after trying the phytoceramides. Been taking it ever since (Neocell brand)

@morganjen I tried the Neocell Collagen powder & I just could not take it. The smell & taste was horrible even though most people say there is no smell or taste there was for me. I kept gagging when I tried to drink it.

@Nightowlz that was my experience way back when when I tried the Neocell collagen. I can tolerate alot of nasty tasting stuff but I could NOT get that stuff down. I was shocked at all the reviews about it not having any smell or taste as I had both, especially a taste, that I just could not tolerate.

I mix the Neocell in with an orange-flavored vitamin C drink. I think we're supposed to take it with vitamin C anyway and it hides the taste. No problem for me at all.

@Teddie I took Vit C with it when I used it. I did not want to drink OJ every day.
