I have United Health Care AARP part D and am finding that in some cases, I can private pay with Good Rx Coupon for less that what my plan will pay. I'm not talking about exotic meds. The latest problem was with Doxycycline. It was cheaper to pay that to use insurance.

For many years I paid $10. for my levothyroxine refills and didn't go through the insurance.

To run it through the insurance boosted the total price considerably, and my portion was more than $10.

Hi I never post but was curious what pharmacy you use the GoodRX coupons at.... CVS always indicates they dont accept them...Maybe others that have used them could answer this also...I have good insurance private but next year go on Medicare...thank you in advance

    @ladyjabroni   suggest you Google big and small pharmacies in your area and give them a call. Some local non-chain pharmacies may give a great price (having to compete with the big guys)

Policies can change by next year.

I have UHC through AARP.  I have no problem with the medical but their drug plan is sub par as far as I am concerned.  I've never used Good Rx coupons.  I have seen the advertisements on TV and wondered if I should download the app.  I may give it a try.

Yes, I get a deeper discount for “private” pay and I haven’t filed with my insurance because my out of pocket is so little (thank goodness). I use a local supermarket pharmacy and they provide no charge antibiotics to promote care in our area for flu epidemic that hit us hard couple of years ago.  Trust me, I appreciate everything. It doesnt hurt to ask for deeper discounts.

I needed prescription eye drops last week.  Through my Medicare D plan the price was $86.  With GoodRx at Walgreens the price was $49.  If I had asked that it be called into CVS instread -- the GoodRx price would have been $41.  Unfortuantely I didn't know that until after the prescription had already been called in and I checked the GoodRx website.

@ladyjabroni ...I have used Good RX at CVS....wonder why they would not honor your coupon?

Thank goodness the only drug I take is Boniva...roughly $50.00 for 3 months.  I don't have any drug coverage so Good RX works for me.

I have aarp/ united healthcare for my medical suppliment, and it is wonderful. However, the insurance specialist I consulted with for insurance said the aarp/ UHC wasnt the best for my meds.  I tried Aetna, it was 19@mo but worth it.  The only thing they don't pay for very well is pain meds.  Most all my scripts are 2 bucks
