A friend of mine swears by Excedrin Migrane .... it's a combination of 250 mg acetominaphin and 250 mg aspirin.  I didn't know you could mix those two, but apparently you can.   Perhaps "two pain killers are better than one" ?

Excedrin Migraine also contains caffeine, which a doctor told me can cause rebound headaches.

@NickNack

Yes, it can ... in some people.   Nevertheless, caffeine is added to pain relievers to enhance the pain relieving.   Nothing wrong with that.

Best remedy for headache relief I have ever found. I take Advil for joint and muscle pain. I know there are potential side effects for all these. Also do some youga and other stuff and use my hot tub when I feel sore.

@MarieIG, I have osteoarthritis and would like to know how you address this through your diet.  TIA

@halfpint1

It's always best to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before taking any pain meds, as they know what other meds you may be taking & what can be mixed & what can't. This includes over the counter pain meds. My doctor & pharmacist have said a simple aspirin or ibuprofen can be harmful depending on what meds you may already be taking. I'm glad you went to the doctor & hope you feel better soon.

@jazzbabe  I probably eat one of the most boring diets on the face of this earth.  I guarantee I will forgot some of the things that I do.  (My father's side of the family tends to get the RA, my mother's side. OA.  My son has RA.)

I (almost completely) eliminated added sugar and white flour from my diet.  I eat low carbs (when I say low carbs, I am not talking about non-starchy vegetables, they are great).  I eat fish, especially fatty fish.  I try to eat very little red meat and diary.  I try not to eat very large meals, to keep my blood sugar stable and my weight in a healthy range.  I also power walk instead of running to reduce (but not eliminate) stress on my hip and knee joints.  I take supplements with include glucosamine, condrointin, msm, curcumin and omega 3s. (I can't spell so sorry if I spelled any of these wrong).

My son's doctor had him eliminate wheat and dairy from his diet, (son would not listen to me) and his pain has been dramatically been reduced.

I try to keep portions of nightshades small, and I have not noticed a reaction from these if I am otherwise watching my diet.  (For me, a large sugary dessert would result in joint pain within hours.)

Do the math.

@MarieIG,  I am in the process of eliminating added sugar and I pretty much limit my carbs to healthy veggies. I eat a lot of chicken and a moderate amount of fish.   I think I may have a hard time giving up my greek yogurt and cream in my coffee.  I may try eliminating them to see if it helps. Thanks!

@jazzbabe  Greek yogurt (plain) does have benefits for the digestive system.  It may not be a trouble maker for you.

Thank you for letting me know my pain level.  You must have bone cancer too, nope doesn't hurt a bit..  And to think, I've wasted all this money on oncologists, when I could have just asked you and a few others, well, double "Duh" to me.

Took out the arthritis??   I'm going to assume, he removed a disc or discs.  Anyway, that product King hawks on infomercials is not for pain relief.  If you've had back surgery and you are in pain the way you describe, for heaven's sake, go see your doctor.  I have osteoarthritis in my knee and spinal stenosis so I'm in some level of pain almost daily.  Some days, it's mild and I can push it out of my mind and get on with my life.  Other days (like) today, I can barely manage.  Get steroid injections in my knee and in my spine and that relieves the pain about 75%.  With my daughter's wedding and all, I'm overdue for both injections so that's why I'm in so much pain now.  I take 500mg of naproxen twice a day and 400mg of neurontin twice a day.  But....today....it's just not working for me.  I need those steroid injections.

@chrystaltree

If you haven't already done so,please  try Aspercreme ( see my post #9)  .... put it on your knee at night and see how you wake up.   Then,  applying it again in the morning will get you out the door and keep you going without waiting for it to work.

My success with it has been a very happy surprise!  There are few things that can give us peace like being pain free.   JMO

My ds had surgery to remove a large glioma two years ago. He had to use a cancer surgeon as nerves were affected. Now, he has unspeakable nerve pain in his back,! I also suffer nerve pain. If meds like Tylenol and Aleve don't even dull the pain it is probably nerve pain, which takes a whole different class drug to help!🙁
