Thanks for your reply on my 30 Day Shred post over in Beauty Banter. I've always thought of weight loss as kind of a math equation (I majored in Math in college {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}), i.e. to lose weight you just need to subtract calories through eating less and/or exercising more. And while I feel like I generally eat fairly well, I've not paid too much attention to carbs and sugars. I don't eat processed foods as a rule, we don't eat things from a box (except cereal). I don't buy pre-sugared cereals, eat oatmeal some mornings, sometimes scrambled eggs. Lunch is usually yogurt, fruit, sometimes half a sandwich (no processed meats), sometimes soup, sometimes slice of cheese with fruit, depends on the season. Dinner is usually a meat (could be chicken, beef or pork), veggies, sometimes potatoes. Pasta maybe once per week which then means bread with dinner. I don't eat fish. My snacks vary. If I haven't had a yogurt with lunch then its a snack, sometimes its fruit, sometimes a small handful of nuts and/or raisins. My usual night snack is icecream, which I've recently replaced with the frozen yogurt. I thought that was a good thing but now I think I was adding too much sugar by doing that. I'm thinking I don't eat as well as I thought I did, at least not if I want to lose weight!

I really thought stepping up the exercise would help me lose weight. Someone mentioned being in the muscle building stage and then moving into the fat burning stage. Is that a myth too? I know as we get older its harder. But if its hard now imagine how hard it will be if I don't take it off now? Much harder once the extra 10 pounds have really made themselves at home! Everyone I work out with tells me I still look good, I still wear the same size, but things are fitting not as well. I look in the mirror and think I look darn good for almost 48 but worry that the weight will keep creeping up and then one day I'll be fat!

I am going to try some of your suggestions re: sugars and carbs. I will pay more attention to my intake and I think I will start journaling too. If this doesn't help I will seek the advice of my doctor and a dietician. Any other advice you have for me would be greatly appreciated. Also, once the snow melts here I would like to start walking with my husband again...that should help, right?

Thanks again!
