@Kitty Galore I don't think that they want to look so gaunt but they are so desperate to not be fat any more.
The shame that comes with living with being fat is tremendous.
And, it always amazes me at the unkind comments from these boards from people that generally seem to be kind people.
When questions are asked about women letting their hair go grey or being overweight, there are some pretty harsh comments for them.
It makes me sad.
I saw a friend of mine that had always battled her weight. I never felt that she was particularly heavy, but she always wanted to be thin.
When I saw her recently I thought she must be really sick. She looked so haggard & was thinner than I had ever seen her.
As we talked she said she was on Ozempic & that's how she lost so much weight.

@Dusty1 I don't understand why you are calling me out on this ? I have a dear friend who has fought eating disorders for decades . And I get they see themselves as obese even though they are not , just the opposite . It is a physiological issue , she has been seeing a therapist for years. I am always here for her and support her . It's very sad , I do understand that about overweight women and how they perceive themselves . These drugs are not the answer though , dangerous as well if taking for issues besides diabetes.

@Kitty Galore I just re-read your comment with your other comments & I apologize.
I see what you are saying about some thin people seeing themselves as fat & trying to get thinner. You were being kind & I was feeling defensive.
I read your comment the wrong way like "Not only are those people fat AND lazy, but they want to look GAUNT, too!
I'm sorry I replied the way that I did to you.
I was wrong.

@Dusty1 I thank you , and No worries at all. I have done this myself when reading or maybe interpreting what someone has written and it was not what I thought . You are a very gracious person.

I think, in general, their patients ask for this medication. It doesn't make it right.

We have a two drs in the family. I hate to bother them with questions but I asked my BIL about Ozempic; he is a hospitalist and sees all kinds of patients. He said there are serious side effects from Ozempic just like there are for all drugs...so he stone-walled. He did say it doesn't work for everyone and he has treated paitents who were using it but stopped due to the side effects...lots of nausea and other digestive issues. He never mentioned hair thinning. The fact there is a clinic here designated as the ozempic side effect clinic tells me I would never use it. I think there is another company coming out with a pill for weight loss that has almost no side effects and is far more effective...it's due out in 2025

My SIL was just telling me that she is a diabetic and was taking it for a month and she couldn't eat anything, nothing appealed to her and she had no appetite at all. She stopped taking it and finding something else to take.
