@NickNack. Lyrica was worse for me than the Neurontin! I sat and cried all day at the slightest sad thought! It is a toss up! If you ask me about all this when I'm in pain, I'd tell you I'd NEVER give up my meds! But, with the meds working, I'm not so sure I like the side effects! lol. I find myself nodding off while I'm reading the morning paper! I never did that! And, I fall asleep in mid sentence while posting on here! This is all new for me! I guess it's time for a serious chat with my doc! Oh, goody! All he'll do is tell me there is nothing else to do!

@Imadickens

Well, if you can find a dosage that works for you I found that the extreme sleepiness does abate after a while.

@froggy. Thank you! That gives me something to look forward to! Perhaps if I can get past that, the other stuff will go away, too!

All of the anticonvulsant drugs (Neurontin, Depakote, Topamax, etc) are notorious for causing cognitive issues. Topamax is called Dopamax because it can make you dumber than a box of rocks. Of course the higher the dose, the greater the side effect risk. Like everything, not everyone has issues, and we have to trade off sometimes to get relief. I'm particularly bothered by those drugs. I take baby doses when I've used it in the past.

Maybe you can back back down on the dosage some?  You might not need as much now that it's really in your system. Sometimes doctors bump the dosage up really quickly without giving a lower dose a chance. Good luck. It's scary, I know.

@Imadickens  I hope you can find a good solution.  I'd definitely discuss this with the doctor.
