has anyone here on the boards had this surgery? My sister has severe congestive heart failure and just recovered from pneumonia due to it. Dr. has told her she has 6-8 weeks to live if she does not have this surgery.
Next week he will be doing several tests to be sure that once they open her up they can fix all that needs to be fixed all at once so they won't have to open her up again. She has aortic stenosis as well. The doc wants to do the surgery asap as he thinks she'll get too bad to even have the surgery after next week.
I am asking because she lives 1400 miles away and i recently just returned from there a couple of weeks ago. It is a long drive and I suffered from sitting all that way. I will need a car to drive her to dr's appts, therapy etc so i will need to drive down again.
I am thinking about going back the first week of November, my other sister will be taking care of her in the interim. I am trying to plan to be back in CT for Thanksgiving. Between the two of us that would be 7 weeks of around the clock care. For those of you who've had this surgery, is that enough time to start doing things for yourself?
thanks, im so torn over this but I have family in CT that needs me as well.
