I found the app that is working for me. I use it on my Kindle Fire, but I am sure there is a version for all androids & ipads.
It is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004H6WTJI/ref=docs-os-doi_0
Key reasons I like it:
1. Ties into their web site
2. The database of ingredients is growing as people add products. I can find most house brands in the database! I have had to very few items.
3. Quick to enter an ingredient list, so I can check the nutrition of a recipe without investing much time. Certainly faster than sitting there a nutrition book.
4. I can view my total day's consumption just like the label on a food, so I can see how I am doing.
5. It is free!
Weakness:
1. Full function needs web access. Since I use it at home, it works for me. But you can log foods from your food lists.
2. Must save before you hit the back button. My cookbook program automatically saves. Matter of remembering which app I am in.
