Has anyone gone to a registered dietitan for nutritional counseling to help with weight loss? I would be interested to know you what you thought about it and if you found the service helpful.

I would have to say yes.
My RD is online & free.
I’ve rec’d unlimited, valuable information with open Q&A interaction.
So yes....that free education has allowed me to lose weight.
But the dietary suggestions falls within my ideals of what
is required for Optimum Health, so it’s easy to follow.

The hospital I retired from had a Weight Loss support group that was overseen by a registered dietician on staff.
Local physicians often have their patients contact the registered dieticians at the hospital for information, and assistance with weight loss. In my area, these hospital employees are happy to assist anyone in the community, not just patients admitted to the hospital.

No, I never have but would love to. Just for their assistance. I often wonder if it is covered by med insurance. If it isn't, it should be. Obesity is an epidemic in this country. Sugar addiction. I've never seen an overweight RD. I have seen plenty of overweight physicians, RN's, PT's, etc. I wonder if their services are covered for Type 1 diabetics. My grandmother was a type 1, and my mother said she was ALWAYS hungry. Not sure if that's a normal symptom or not.

Yes I have gone a few times--my insurance won't pay for it on its own tho---but as part of another condition they did. Am going again this Friday for dealing with cholesterol issues---I already know most of what they will say as I have been dealing with this for 40 some years now. I have to say that you can get much info online by googling it. But to maybe talk face to face would be a good thing. Be aware that it is pricy---over $200 an hour usually. But I would research weight loss and see what comes up that fits your needs.

They have plastic food to represent a serving size. I was eating way too much. I was also eating very high oxylate food, which caused kidney stones. Very eye opening
