The other day, I had two crowns done and was given novacaine for the procedure. The whole procedure took approximately 3 hours because my dentist now can complete the whole procedure with one visit instead of doing a temporary crown on the first visit and then placing the permanent one on another visit a few weeks later. So, because I was there for a long time, I needed to have another novacaine shot to complete the procedure. WOW! Is my mouth sore! My cheek area and gums are still so sore in the area that the shots were administered and it is 48 hours after the procedure. I've never had such discomfort from novacaine and wonder whether anyone else has gone through this and could let me know when it will feel better. I also now wonder whether doing two crowns at once and the complete procedure all at one time is too much trauma!
Sometimes the old way is still the better way.
