my husband had chronic nosebleeds for a long time. They became very bad and occurred at work, anywhere.  His ENT  cauturized the inside of nise where the vein was weak.  It hurt like heck he said. That was several years  ago, and it resolved the problem.  Nose bleeds  occur for a few reasons.   But sometimes for chronic nose bleeders it is the weak, blood vessels that burst, or leak  ask ENT about  cauturization.   Worth a try.

@I am still oxox   that would have been traumatizing for a 5 yr old, good grief.  Although they have come a ways in the procedure, it isn't much better. My husband was  late 50's , early 60's ,and he didn't like it....... And he is a tough guy who is never ill. Is hurt like heck. I can't imagine a little kid. It did stop the bleeding all the time though. For that he was grateful. My husband worked in aerospace in Silicon Valley, and traveled,1.5 hrs,up and 1.5 hrs back everyday   He woukd have those bleeds on bus  often and it was a disaster!!

@shoekitty I do not think I was able to go through the procduere, all I remember is the doc spraying something up my nose that burned like crazy This was about 1960. I hope that techniques have changed

@I am still oxox  I think with my husband they used a hot cauturizer.  In other words, they sort of burn it. Yikes. Well, let's say my husband still remembers it when he speaks of having pain in his life. Second thing  thing that comes up. But it worked. The ENT didn't use lidocaine though ,cause he said, he woukd just do it if it was okay with him,  cause it would take too long to numb   lol he said today he might opt for the numbing stuff
