Have you ever had one ? I had one at work about 20 or so years ago and the treatment was painful. This morning when I woke up I had a rather aggressive nosebleed. I googled nosebleeds and it said if they lasted longer than 30 min. youshould be checked. At one point there was a lot of blood and I was concerned, but at the magic 30 min.mark , it stopped. Now I'm worried it will start up again. Fingers crossed.

Due to ALLERGIES, I have had chronic nosebleeds since I was a child. They subsided when I went to work in climate-controlled office buildings, tho.

Nosebleeds can be scary. I am a heart patient on blood thinners so bleeds start quickly. I started using Bleed Cease which you can by anywhere and once rolled up and inserted in the nose stops quickly. Also, my nurse told me to put some Vaseline in that side of the nose and it will stop the bleeding.mGood luck.

I get an occasional nosebleed when I honk my nose a little too hard. Not much blood but it happens. I'm 70. I've never experienced one just out of the blue for no reason and especially not one with a lot of bleeding. Older people can get nosebleeds more often b/c of thinning skin/fragile blood vessels inside the nose and then it takes longer to stop bleeding on top of that.

@QVCkitty1 , I had a massive nosebleed. Low platelets. Out of nowhere it was like a faucet was turned on and my neighbor had to take me to emergency. I was there for hours and they were getting info to admit me. Finally it stopped and I was able to leave. As I was checking in a nurse came out to shoot me up with Afrin and pop on a noseclip and fresh towel.
For months everywhere I went I carried a noseclip and would have a towel in the car just in case. Still have a noseclip in each room and a bottle of Afrin ready to go.

@QVCkitty1 I've had nosebleeds most of my life. I had them fairly often as a kid, & my brother still jokes about my yelling, "My nose!" whenever one started. My mom told my siblings back then to be careful & not bump my nose when playing Lol.
I got a nosebleed a couple times many years ago when my bath water was too hot.
When I was a kid, the doctor said it was because my nose was dry due to furnace heating in the cold dry winter. So, my parents got a humidifier.
Well, dryness may have been 1 reason but not the only reason.
My dad used to get nosebleeds too, but not as often or as strong.
When I was on a NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory), I experienced several nosebleeds & had 2 cauterized that wouldn't stop. After 6 months, my doc said to stop taking the NSAID. So for me, that Rx caused my nose to bleed.
I get nosebleeds when I'm congested with a cold. I have to be careful when I blow my nose then.
But, I also used to get them if I blew my nose too hard and didn't have a cold.
Sometimes when I was younger, just bending my head down or washing my face with too hot water would give me a nosebleed.
I learned to be cautious & use moderation in the above instances.
I've had some terrible nosebleeds that have frightened me.
During a nosebleed, I put a baggie of ice on my nose, a towel or paper towel at my nostrils, and use a nose "pincher/clamp" to stop the bleeding.
In addition, I sit down and I don't move. Movement during or right after causes more bleeding for me. I never put my head back like some people do, because all that does for me is make the blood go down my throat.
But that's for me; other people should do what their doctors advise them to do.
I haven't had very many nosebleeds the past 8-10 years. I had one last year when I finished an intense exercise routine; that happened twice. It may or may not have been from my intense exercising raising my blood pressure. Idk, but I lessened the intensity & no nosebleeds. My regular BP is 110/70.
If I cry & the crying makes me congested, I'll get a brief nosebleed. I try to never let myself cry.
I don't have any advice for anyone about nosebleeds.
Sorry if this is TMI Lol

I used to get nose bleeds during my period when I was very young. I outgrew it.
Two of my children got nosebleeds starting when they were about a year old. I used to go into their bedrooms in the morning and there was blood all over their pj's, the sheets, the crib, the walls and their hands.
It was horrific looking.
Their peditriction said to stop the bleeding with Afrin spray. It worked.. They eventually outgrew at about age six.
My father-in-law got nose bleeds pretty often and my husbands sister did too.
It seems to be a common issue. I never had any problems getting the bleeding under control for my children. The Afrin worked quickly.

@Carmie I get nosebleeds from time to time. I got one last week. I was not severe but I always check my nose because I live in AZ and the air is dry.
I was always told to pinch my nose under the bridge for 10 MINUTES and not to release during that time. After 10 minutes (that seemed like an eternity) I released and the bleeding stopped.
A derm I consulted a few years ago prescribed some cortisone salve that I never used. It was expired (a few weeks) but the nosebleed happened before I went to bed and I was concerned it would start again in the middle of the night so I put a dab of the cortisone salve on it.
When I awoke in the morning, it was as if nothing ever happened.
I looked on Amazon for Afrin nasal spray. I want to keep that in the house. There were a large # of types of Afrin spray. Please specify exactly the AFRIN spray that helped with the nosebleed. THANKS SO MUCH!
