I feel this stuff is heredity too. There are so many foods I love that I shouldnt eat as I feel bad at night after having them during the day.

Yes they say eat small meals and dont overeat or eat too much at one meal, that puts more acid in the stomach.Man Frustrated

I cannot eat soy since I take thyroid med. But dont have to avoid totally but I do.

Somes I am that way of dare not lay down for many hours, sometimes not at all!

Its good you are figuring out the food that bothers you and that makes things worse. Hope you can get help from your Dr about the osteo and maybe switch to Wonder Belly too. I plan on trying it. Smiley Wink

He said I must do this as my upper GI condition is bad.  I no longer burp all the time. Also my what I call Agita has decreased a LOT.  I had a very bad time after eating those mini potatoes. Also stuffed peppers.  Nightshade plants are a NoNO.

I do not do dairy except for some yogurt which can make me miserable but having been on Panto* for close to 3 months I see improvement.

I have to watch my food intake.  My tendency is to eat one big meal which is bad .  My mother starved herself all day except for dinner. She has a cast iron stomach though.

Also Soy products. I figured out that Soy is a trigger. I made my own chopped coleslaw one day using Marie's Coleslaw dressing. Soybean oil is 1st ingredient. I was miserable for hours, had to wait until 2 AM to even think of lying down.   Did not make the connection til I looked at the label. Also could never stomach Soy Milk. Silk they call it.    That was pushed years ago as a Dairy substitute for cereal. It always sat as a lump in my stomach.  I cannot eat green salads either using commercial salad dressings. they mostly use Canola oil or Soy Oil.

My osteoporosis is bad though. So I will ask Dr. next visit.

@CherryHugs   I hope you feel better too.  Maybe give wonderbelly  a try, but I  read that its calcium carbonate.      My maternal grandfather had an ulcer.  He died when I  was 3.  I don't know much else about him but he also had what they called nerves.   I started getting stomach issues late 20s and suddenly had a lot of anxiety too.  Seemed the grinding tummy and anxiety/nerves are related somehow?   I  was on 20mg pantoprazole 20 yrs ago but quit it after 4 yrs because of panic attacks when I was taking it. Never had panic attacks before.  and also the effect on bones.  Now I feel scared to leave my house, scared to drive except for a quick local errand. and i have insomnia too.

I've been on a PPI for over 30 years, or whenever they first came out.  I've had no ill effects from them.  Couldn't live without them.  I can drink water and get reflux if I don't take it daily.  In the last few years I've discovered Zegerid, OTC.  It has a tiny bit of bi-carb in it and it works wonders.  NEVER going to stop taking it.  H*#l without it.

@granddi  No one it seems can agree!! I think it is diff for everyone. I can drink low fat milk, eat olives and saurerkraut, turkey dogs with no issues.

I have to be careful with red sauce.  I dont anymore eat raw onions. I drink lots of water!

The experts cannot agree and it's probably because there is not a single answer. Is it tomato, garlic, milk? Here's another strong candidate for GI issues.

In an analysis of data from the prospective Nurses’ Health Study II, intake of coffee, tea, or soda was associated with an increased risk of GER symptoms. In contrast, consumption of water, juice, or milk was not associated with GER symptoms. Drinking water instead of coffee, tea, or soda reduced the risk of GER symptoms.

The Canadian version of Gavison (maybe Tums?) is aluminum free. I used to get from Amazon but not always available. So If I am in Canada I pick up several bottles. Maybe a Canadian pharm would ship?

@Magicrat   Im glad you have no ill effects from them...So far I havent but have only used for a couple of years.

They really work for me but I do still need to eat right for them to work. I might check that product out too--the Zegerid!  Thank you.
