Aww I’m sorry to hear that about your Aunt. 😌
You are being proactive though and knowing you need to change your diet will help you for sure. 🤗
Maybe I was lucky, but the Tums did way better for me.
Ask your Dr if you can take both the meds and the Tums if he says not to stop the meds.
When I had the reflux I had trouble swallowing after I ate. It’s called a Globus Sensation. I didn’t get any pain like heartburn though.
It can happen to anyone this acid reflux. I was surprised when Alberti mentioned it on air a couple times that he suffered with it for almost a year. He’s very active so that made me feel better knowing my lack of exercise has nothing to do with it.
Oh when I was going through my reflux, any time I had red sauce (tomato sauce) I was adding a touch of baking soda to it. Now I’m so used to it, that I prefer the taste with baking soda, which I guess isn’t a bad thing. 🤗

@Effie54 Not sure about Drs and their saying certain meds are safe! Not so sure and I think they dont really want to say the truth.
That is scary about your stylist, I have heard of that side effect! ![]()
Thank you for the pic and info. Def will check into that!![]()
@Effie54 wrote:@CherryHugs I wonder what the doctor considers "safe"? My stylist has been on a PPI for over 10 years and she now has osteoporosis, and lost at least an inch or more in height. They may help symptoms, but not without issues. You can do it. It might take awhile, but it can be done. I also used this product, which helped more than my PPI did.

My gastro put me on pantoprazole 40mg for 3 months. In August. I was dx'd with erosive esophagitis and dueodenitis. also believe this is due to heredity.
He said I must do this as my upper GI condition is bad. I no longer burp all the time. Also my what I call Agita has decreased a LOT. I had a very bad time after eating those mini potatoes. Also stuffed peppers. Nightshade plants are a NoNO.
I do not do dairy except for some yogurt which can make me miserable but having been on Panto* for close to 3 months I see improvement.
I have to watch my food intake. My tendency is to eat one big meal which is bad . My mother starved herself all day except for dinner. She has a cast iron stomach though.
Also Soy products. I figured out that Soy is a trigger. I made my own chopped coleslaw one day using Marie's Coleslaw dressing. Soybean oil is 1st ingredient. I was miserable for hours, had to wait until 2 AM to even think of lying down. Did not make the connection til I looked at the label. Also could never stomach Soy Milk. Silk they call it. That was pushed years ago as a Dairy substitute for cereal. It always sat as a lump in my stomach. I cannot eat green salads either using commercial salad dressings. they mostly use Canola oil or Soy Oil.
My osteoporosis is bad though. So I will ask Dr. next visit.

I feel this stuff is heredity too. There are so many foods I love that I shouldnt eat as I feel bad at night after having them during the day.
Yes they say eat small meals and dont overeat or eat too much at one meal, that puts more acid in the stomach.![]()
I cannot eat soy since I take thyroid med. But dont have to avoid totally but I do.
Somes I am that way of dare not lay down for many hours, sometimes not at all!
Its good you are figuring out the food that bothers you and that makes things worse. Hope you can get help from your Dr about the osteo and maybe switch to Wonder Belly too. I plan on trying it. ![]()

The experts cannot agree and it's probably because there is not a single answer. Is it tomato, garlic, milk? Here's another strong candidate for GI issues.

The Canadian version of Gavison (maybe Tums?) is aluminum free. I used to get from Amazon but not always available. So If I am in Canada I pick up several bottles. Maybe a Canadian pharm would ship?
