I was having some gut issues and went through some labs that showed significant imbalance of good vs bad microbes. Since starting mega doses of probiotics my reflux is all but gone.

There has to be a connection. Lots of experts that check in to health. I'll be watching for remarks.

My gut is still out of wack but no more reflux.

Yes by eliminating milk. Drink non-dairy plant based Ripple milk, which has more calcium than regular milk and the expiration date is months away when not opened. 🤗

I had such a bad case of acid reflux that I had an upper endoscopy done to make sure there wasn’t anything wrong with my esophagus. No signs of ulcers either.
All was good. Procedure wasn’t fun!

I'm glad to see this discussion.  I have been on Nexium over 20 years.  Yes, that long.  My primary physician has always said as long as my bloodwork is good not to worry, but I, too, have concerns.

My pharmacist recently told me about a new drug called Voquezna.  She says it is wonderful.  My doctor said to give it a try.  I started today.  I hope and pray this works for me.  I'm really concerned about taking nexium for so long.  But it has always helped me and my bloodwork is great.

I guess time will tell.  I have  tried cutting spicy, chocolates, anything that could be a trigger but if I miss even 1 day of Nexium I am miserable.  My dad had the same issues and so did his mom, my grandmother.  Dr says it's likely something genetic, I don't know.  I am eager to read the replies on this post.

@CherryHugs.  My doctor ordered me off PPIs due to effect on kidney function.  I have to watch my diet more closely, especially avoiding acids and chocolate.  I take an acid reducer before dinner nightly that seems to get me through the night.

I've used this routine for several years and am doing fine.

I took Omeprazol for 8 months and tried Pantoprazol for less than a week.

These meds did nothing to help with my acid reflux and made me feel worse. Finally Dr agreed to take me off them after my Upper Endoscopy procedure was good.

I took 3 -4 tums every night before bed and gradually weened off them completely. Haven’t taken a Tum in almost a year!

I swear Tums worked better for me than any prescription. I think Nexium is the over the counter version of these prescriptions.

Try going dairy free!! It worked for me and I can eat normal again without worrying about reflux.

@granddi  I do eat activia sometimes. I need more pro and even pre biotics! Thank you.  Hope your gut issues are better really soon!
