I'm a fan of many Lessman supplements, appreciate the care with which they are made (Omega 3, coQ10, Healthy Hair, Skin, Nails, Ultimate Eye Support, Essential 1). I am now targetting heart health—including lowering blood pressure, lipid panels, and cholesterol/triglycerides.
In addition to supplements, I now have a heart-healthy plant diet and cardio-strength-treadmill program. Eliminated processed foods, sugar, high sodium. This leads me to a concern about CholestaCare and how it actually works.
I have a cabinet full of CholestaCare that I stopped using a few weeks ago. As a scientist (who studies people/neuroscience, not biology), my reading of Andrew's cholesterol supplement is that it blocks unhealthy fats, using plant sterols. Logically, though, anything that BLOCKS the body's absorption of something in the stomach will block other things in the stomach. QUESTION: what else is a CholestaCare supplement blocking?
If someone is eating what they normally do, not a restricted diet, and not taking many other supplements, Lessman's products would be great (including ChocoNuvo, another Blocker)—blocking the bad stuff (and I realize our bodies naturally produce cholesterol). However, if you are now eating a healthy diet (and exercising), is CholestaCare blocking the good things?
Went back on the HSN Lessman web to read, including REVIEWS.
*** Several (of the hundreds) shared concerns because their TRIGLYCERIDE levels suddenly went up when taking CholestaCare and they wondered why. That happened to me. I auddenly had the high triglyceride levels ever.
Thoughts? This is such a useful thread, I appreciate the specific, relevant experiences and expertise of those who contribute. @SilleeMee is my fav on chemistry.
If anyone here contacts Lessman's company, Prolabs, to discuss this, will you please post here about the conversation? TIA

@Tinkrbl44 Just what I was going to suggest. Lessman's staff has answered many questions for me in the past that put me on the right track. No, they are not medical personnel, but they do check with Andrew if they don't already know what his suggestion/opinion on a specific concern is. It's just another viewpoint to consider from the producer of the product, along with all the other fine suggestions on this thread.

As far as I know plant sterols only lowers LDL. Plant sterols don't have an effect on HDL or triglycerides. So it must be something other than the CholestaCare that is causing the elevated level of triglycerides. High triglycerides can be caused from a number of reasons.

@SilleeMee Thanks, I knew you'd have a focused sensible thought.
My main conclusion re CC is that if I'm not eating anything that needs blocking and don't want my other supps blocked, maybe I shouldn't take it?
Many took the ChocoNuvo and CC after a heavy desert, sugar indulgence, feast.
I do wish I understood more about what a BLOCKER does regarding other vitamins/supplements taken at the same time. A blocker blocks, right?
One of my DUH insights was when a pharmacology professor told us, "The aspirin doesn't know you have a headache." Went on to explain that the aspirin goes everywhere in your body.

There is always a possibility that CC might interfere with the absorption of some fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamins A, D and E as well as beta-carotene and Q10.
Phytosterols suppress bile acids which are needed in the absorption of fats and fat-soluble ingredients in the gut. You can counteract those effects by taking supps to increase those fat-soluble vitamins in your diet. Either that or eat more food containing those particular vitamins.

Just curious ...... for everyone here ..
Do you take ALL your vitamins and supplements at the same time? I know the temptation can be to take everything with the largest meal.
I have always taken mine at different times like lunch, dinner, w/ a protein shake, etc. It always seemed to me that taking everything, all at one time, sort of overloads the "absorption receptors" (my word).
I have all my daily supps in a little porcelain dish and take them at different times. I learned a long time ago that if I take a multi or whatever that has any spirulina or other stimulants that taking it with dinner can affect my falling asleep.

I take my supps at different times and not all at once.

Those fat-soluble vitamins don't necessarily have to come from supps. They can be in food which the CC might have some effect on the absorption of the vitamins in that food.

@Tinkrbl44 @SilleeMee + all
I have 2 categories: supps that are to be taken with meals and those that do not have to be taken with a meal.
Then I divide them throughout the day.
Sometimes I spread out those TAKE 2 as well. Not always.
Wondering: If you are supposed to take 2 of something, is it better to just take them both at the same time?
