Sadly, for some, lifestyle change is just not enough. Improvement, for sure, but not a cure.

Yes, addiction is tough....

No addiction, but medical issues that still need medication.
I read about those that lose weight or change their diet and all their medications and issues just disappear! But for some, that just does not work.
My brother had gone totally vegan, but still some serious issues remain. Some have poor genetics.

I actually agree with you and am not trying to start any debate or anything. Just wish it were as simple as a lifestyle change to help someone I love dearly.

@SeaMaiden Not only is addiction tough, but even once we manage to conquer our addictions, they've added to the negative effects many of us encounter as we age. I am feeling this first hand right now as I move farther into my 80's - even though I've lost all my excess weight and added more exercise to my life, my previous sins may still be at work in my body.
Still I am infinitely more comfortable than I was, and except for the worst of various effects on my old body, only those closest to me know I struggle somewhat pretty much daily, but my addiction (sugar) just lurks in the background instead of controlling me and I am so pleased to be where I am.

For many sadly that is true. However for many more one can change how well one can be by changing their lifestyle.
Unfortunately too many are not bothering to do so or are just not getting the message. Then too many doctors love to push medicine before trying to see if a lifestyle change can make a difference....

@millieshops A daily struggle for many for sure. One day at a time is an over used saying....but it is the best way to address addiction

@SeaMaiden Day by day is the only way. I believed for years that every cliche contains a truth. I know from personal experience this one does.
