Re: New Weight Watchers Program - Question

I'm enjoying reading everyone's thoughts on the new program. I joined  4 weeks ago and losing slowly but losing. I'm learning to track on line. Wish there was a tutorial lol. I'm buying the smallest bananas I can find and switched to unsweetened almond milk. It's 1 point = 8 oz. and doesn't taste too bad either. Good luck to all. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

Re: New Weight Watchers Program - Question

I went to my WW class yesterday, and was down 2.2 for a total of 21.8 since Dec. 13th. I am very pleased with the Smart Points. I wanted to mention that I bought the blueberry vanilla oatmeal they offer at the center last week, and it is real good if you like the flavor of blueberries.

@Pollyanna, I am using the WW app, and really like it. I also find small bananas. I drink the new Fairlife Skim Milk, and it is 2 points for 8 ounces. It has been filtered, and has half the sugar of regular skim milk. I scanned a yogurt called Nuts for Nana yesterday and it was 9 points!!

Re: New Weight Watchers Program - Question

Hi, @Tissyanne.  I have a silly question.  How do you get the WW App?  I don't think I'll get one, though.  This sounds way too complicated, lol.  On the website you can put in what food you want and you get the smart points for it but what about if you just want to make a meal?  I must have missed something.

I loved the Points Plus calculator...I have two...one was for work.

I went to my first meeting this morning.  I have gained 30 lbs since retiring in June.  Lots of eating, especially sweets and hardly any exercise considering when I was working I was moving around faster than a speeding bullet all of the time.

At the meeting itself, nothing was said much about how to calculate.  I sat for a quick discussion about the new program afterwards, though.  What I don't like is the fact that you either need this app or your computer.  The Leader kept stressing everything you knew before has to be blocked from your mind.  Hard to do, lol.

I'll probably be following my first mind and keep using Points Plus.  I always understood that if I made too many sweet choices I had to give up something else.  The bottomline is to lose the weight in a healthy way, right.  Thanks.

Re: New Weight Watchers Program - Question

Hi @Mmsfoxxie, I suggest you go with the current Smart Points plan, especially if you are attending meetings. Did you get the green booklet called Smart Points guide? If you are a member you should have one. It gives you SP for all basic foods. Since you like the old calculator then my suggestion is to go ahead and purchase the new one. It is a small investment , and is just as easy to use as the other one. If you make a meal you can either calculate each ingredient in a recipe, or do like me an estimate. Example, Meatloaf one 6 ounce slice I estimate at 8 points. One half cup mashed potatoes is 4 sp, and green beans 0 sp. If you have a smart phone you search for WW in the app part of your phone. Click on it, and it will ask you if you want to download. It is a wonderful tool, and your leader will guide you through how to use it. I had never used the app, and I highly suggest it. You will get so much more out of the plan by following the current SP.

Get the green booklet, and either buy a current calculator, or download the app. I think I remember that you do not have a smart phone?

I have lost 25.4 pounds since Dec, 13th. Not bragging, but I am proud of my success. I have found SP to be easy to follow. The program works.

Let me know if I can help. Good luck.

Re: New Weight Watchers Program - Question

Nothing wrong with bragging about doing something good for yourself, @Tissyanne.  I asked the leader this morning if there was something to convert food into Smart Points and she told me no.  I did a chat online this morning after my meeting and she told me the same thing that I needed an app for my phone or be on the computer.  I'd love another calculator for this.

Yes, I have the green pocket guide and I can see that it will be a big help.  Today, so far, I've followed the old plan.  I have some WW oatmeal from when I quit to last me a few days.  My lunch has always been a protein smoothie with minimal fruit and half water, half almond milk.  Also had an apple. Dinner will be a large salad with some meat.  Might have a juice size glass of wine but usually I do that when I'm close to goal.

Girl if I had lost 25.4 lbs, I'd be 4.1 lbs short of goal!  Keep up the good work and thanks.

@Mmsfoxxie, WW does sell a calculator for the Smart Points program. I have one, and you should pursue this. Am I understanding you that they are telling you there isn't one? You can follow and use Smart Points with your green booklet, and the calculator. You  can look up the WW website and purchase one there directly. I just googled Weight Watchers store, and they are $9.95 .

Re: New Weight Watchers Program - Question

@Tissyanne, I was just coming on here to tell you that I found it on WW website.  I don't want to order it, though.  Probably on back order anyway. People on there were complaining that it's mostly sold out at their meeting place, though.  Maybe that what Jen, the leader meant when she said they didn't have one.  I don't know what the chat lady meant, lol.  I will definitely get one next week if it's there.  The complains are down but there still are some.
